Last time on Cutémon, you found yourself all washed up and all alone near the tropical city of Aloi, where you were found by Surchin and its human trainer Ricky, a young man eagerly exploring the extinction of the Volitos! After accosting an Ambusher and finding yourself atop a strange tree, you were saved from out of the blue when some very much alive Volitos dropped from the sky before vanishing!

Missing your fellow mons, you almost bit off more than you could chew with Lottatax and its lick attack! Finding yourself in Aloi, you were found guilty by a pair of humans who claimed to oversee the mon market with their mons Capari and Reefin! An attempt to apprehend Lottatax left Capari at a loss for word, but before the humans could respond, their ruler the General reprimanded them and revealed the rumor of Volitos had reached him and that he planned to corner the market before mon traders from the mainland reached Aloi!

An encounter in the mon market sent you scurrying to the beach where Reefin reappeared to unleash an attack that knocked Lottatax out completely! You arrived almost too late at the home of Professor Mulberry, but just in time to see Ricky and Surchin forced into a car at Barleen-point by the General! After being introduced to his mon Vineapple, you found that you shared more than bread with the Professor when you found a picture of his childhood friends Booker and Rudy!

Awakened after dark by a surprise visit from Surchin, you followed as Surchin trailed the missing Mulberry to a meeting of the military and the mysterious mon trader, who dramatically revealed herself as Diamond, your petulant pursuer and owner of the Bronze Valley Arena where your friends are held hostage!

Captive Cutémon in hand, Diamond was eager to leave, but you were liberated by Lottatax, and Diamond, left livid, laid a trap for you with Surchin as bait! You followed aboard the General's boat as Professor Mulberry was forced to lead them to the Volitos, but before you were recaptured, Diamond learned a Barleen in the hand is more than enough to sink a boat if the Barleen can use Devastation! A third trial with Diamond ended with her taking a nap and you taking both the victory and a trophy... Diamond's hat!

The return of Ricky saw a standoff with the General, but just when things seemed their worst, the General saw how hungry an Ambusher can be, and you saw there are more Volitos than you can count! Returned to the ground, you and your human friends vowed to keep the Volitos a secret! It seemed the situation was settled, and your new friends saw to it that you were ready to leave Aloi through the seaport! Surchin was there to see you off on your boat ride back to the mainland, and luckily Lottatax was there to help you hustle through the seaport's mon detector!

It seems like your goal is in sight! The Bronze Valley Arena is just ahead!

What? Someone is knocking on your cabin door? You look away from the tiny round window toward the door and then look down at Lottatax on the bed.

Lottatax flattens its head spikes back and looks at the door and takes a step backward on the bed! It looks like Lottatax is ready to challenge whoever is on the other side!

What? You just remembered Diamond and Rattletrap are also riding on the huge boat? Do you think Diamond is knocking on the door?

[SFX: knocking on door]

You look back at the tiny round window and feel around the edge, but you don't know how to open it! You look all around your cabin but you can't see any other ways to get out! It seems like you'll have to open the door no matter what! You look down at Lottatax and nod and then tip-toe across your cabin toward the door and slowly reach for the lock switch and then flip the switch and fling the door open!

"Oh, good, you're awake!"

It's the Captain! "We're just about ready to dock in Bronze Valley. I wanted to make sure you debarked safely."

What? The Captain of the huge boat is going to help you get back on the ground? It seems like he really is a nice human!

The Captain looks down at Lottatax and nods. "You can take care of her after that, right?"

Lottatax looks up at the Captain and its head spikes stand back up and it takes a step forward and says "Lottatax!"

"Follow me." The Captain leads you out of your cabin and through the ship to where all the human passengers are standing in line waiting to walk through the mon detector. When you see the mon detector you can't help stopping! You don't know if you'll be able to trick the humans with Lottatax again!

When the Captain notices you stop he looks back and then looks at the line of humans and says "It's alright, I can take you directly to the plank." The Captain leads you past the mon detector and down a hallway and out into the sunlight next to the dock! "Do you know where you're going after this?"

You're nodding your head!

"Bronze Valley Arena!"

"I figured as much. I could tell you were a mon trainer. Well, it looks like you picked a good Lottatax." The Captain points ahead and says "See that big round building? That's the Bronze Valley Arena. You shouldn't have any problem getting there." The Captain pats your shoulder and says "Alright, young lady, from here you're on your own. Try to stay out of trouble. Bronze Valley can be a dangerous place for a kid!"

You walk down to the ground and look back and wave at the Captain!

"Thank you, Captain!"

When you turn around, you can see the Bronze Valley Arena ahead! You look over your shoulder at Lottatax.

"Ready?"

Lottatax looks up at you and says "Lottatax!"

You take a deep breath and start walking into Bronze Valley!

It's easy to find the Bronze Valley Arena because it's so big you can see it even from here! You keep walking with Lottatax on your back but after a little while there are so many humans walking around you that you can hardly see the arena because there are so many humans in the way!

Suddenly you step out from the crowd of humans into an open area and see the Bronze Valley Arena just ahead of you! Now that you're closer, you can't believe how big it is! It seems like the arena is bigger than the huge boat you rode on!

Lottatax peeks over your shoulder at the arena and flattens its head spikes back and says "Lottatax!"

You look around but you don't see a way to get inside the arena from...

What? You just noticed Joe is here? You don't know how, but Joe is standing in front of you!

"It's you! I was worried!"

You're so happy you can't contain yourself!

"Joe!"

Joe grins at you and says "I've missed you a lot. Come on, let's go inside." He gestures toward the Bronze Valley Arena.

What? Joe wants you to go inside the Bronze Valley Arena?

"Lottatax!"

"It's alright. All our friends are waiting inside."

What? Joe is saying your friends are inside the arena? Does this mean they're not captured anymore?

"Lottatax!"

"That's right, everybody is safe. They can't wait to see you again!"

What? Your friends are safe? It seems like you don't need to rescue them after all!

"Lottatax!"

Suddenly, Lottatax bites you on the shoulder! You can hardly stand the pain!

It doesn't seem to have any effect!


Joe disappears and when you look up at the sky you see a mon floating in the air above you that looks like a black ball with a face and dangling tendrils and pulsating brain veins!

It's a Horriborb!

You look down at Lottatax and Lottatax looks up at Horriborb and says "Lottatax!"

Horriborb's eyes rotate downward until they're looking at you and then its body rotates downward until it's facing you and its eyes start to glow!


Horriborb attacks with TK Drain!

It really hurts!


You can hardly move! It feels like your skin is on fire!

You can't help crying out but you can't even make any noise or open your eyes because Horriborb's TK Drain attack hurts so much!

"Lottatax!" Suddenly you hear the sound of Horriborb getting slapped by Lottatax's tongue and you stop feeling like your skin is on fire and you can open your eyes!

Horriborb looks away from Lottatax and makes eye contact with you and grinds the tips of its teeth back and forth against each other and then swoops down toward you!

You can't help taking a step backward! Horriborb swoops past you so closely that it bites a strand of your hair! Before you can do anything, Horriborb flies back up into the air above you! Horriborb is too high for you to attack it with your Bite attack!

When you look around you see a streetlamp and then you take another step backward and turn and run toward the streetlamp! Horriborb swoops down over Lottatax and follows you!

Lottatax can't help crouching down when Horriborb passes over it! "Lottatax!"

You run toward the streetlamp but you can hear Horriborb behind you! It's getting closer!

You can hear Horriborb's teeth grinding! It's right behind you!

Look out!


Horriborb attacks before Cutémon was ready!

Horriborb attacks with Grinder!

It really hurts!


Horriborb swoops down and catches your foot in its mouth! You can hardly stand the pain! You fall down and Horriborb grinds its teeth around your ankle until you pull it free and crawl backward!

Suddenly you back up against the streetlamp pole! You look up and then look at Horriborb and grab the streetlamp pole and hop around behind it and climb up the pole! Horriborb flies around the pole but you jump off the pole onto Horriborb and grab onto its back! Horriborb can't believe it!

Horriborb rolls its eyes back to look at you! Its eyes are starting to glow again! You look down at Horriborb's pulsating brain veins! Are you really going to bite it?

You bite the top of Horriborb's head as hard as you can!

Horriborb sinks down to the ground and closes its eyes! When you stand up and look at Horriborb you can see its brain veins aren't pulsating anymore!

It seems like you won your battle!

"Lottatax!"

What? Lottatax is still here, even though it hardly helped? You had better tell it how helpful it really was!

"You hardly helped!"

"Lottatax!"

It sounds like Lottatax thinks it did all the fighting! You had better tell it what really happened!

"One lick attack!"

"Lottatax!

It sounds like Lottatax thinks it's more helpful than you are! You had better tell Lottatax what you really think about it!

How uncharacteristically rude of Mashi. Lottatax helped her spot Horriborb in the first place and get out of her trance. She should also remember that Lottatax can't fly, and saved her life back on the island.

Suddenly Lottatax's eyes widen and it says "Lottatax!" and scurries across the ground toward you!

You pick up Lottatax and hug it!

"Are you alright?"

Lottatax looks up at you and says "Lottat..."

What? Lottatax sees something?

You look up and see Horriborb floating above you in the air looking down at you and Lottatax! Even though you thought you beat up Horriborb, it was just tricking you!

You give Horriborb a determined look!

"Lottatax! Use Tongue!"

"Lottatax!"


Lottatax attacks before Horriborb was ready!

Lottatax attacks with Tongue!

Can't block lick attacks!


Lottatax sticks out its tongue and its tongue stretches up into the air and sticks to Horriborb! When Horriborb tries to get away Lottatax digs its sticky paws into the ground and Horriborb just swings around in a circle because it's still stuck to Lottatax's tongue!

What? You were waiting for Horriborb? When Horriborb swings down toward the ground it looks at you as you swing your fist into its face!

You punch Horriborb's eye and it comes loose from Lottatax's tongue!


Horriborb is fleeing the fight!


Horriborb turns and flies away toward the Bronze Valley Arena as quickly as it can!

It seems like Horriborb isn't just a flying-type mon, it's also a psychic-type mon!

What? You just remembered you know a psychic-type mon who's also a human-type mon?

Copper Citadel is three days of travel at least, meaning it'd be over a week more of our friends in captivity, and it's too much of a hot spot after that run in with Plumtree. The kid professor doesn't know Mashi is a Mon and we don't know if he can be trusted to keep the secret of two humanoid Mon. Our best option is to see what might have happened to Joe after he made his escape and what occurred after the car crash. If Diamond lost her shit over it, rumors must have spread one way or another.

You look around and see a videophone at the other end of the open area and run toward it as quickly as you can with Lottatax scurrying behind you! When you get to the videophone you dig in your jacket pocket and pull out your sack of coins and take out a coin and put it in the videophone!

You don't remember which button to push! The last time you did this, Ramster was here to help you!

Lottatax sees you looking at the buttons and licks them! Suddenly, you hear a human voice!

"What name, please?"

You give the videophone a determined look!

"Professor Bean!"

"What city, please?"

"Ferropolis!"

After a moment the screen flickers and Professor Bean appears! "Professor Bean here. Oh, it's you. Thanks again for helping me test my portable mon scanner. I've been working on some... Hey, what's the matter?" It seems like Professor Bean can see you're upset! You had better tell him what the problem is!

"In a hurry!"

"You mean you need to get somewhere in a hurry?"

You're nodding your head!

"Well, you should try an airport if you're really in a hurry! By the way, is your friend Starr around?"

What? Professor Bean thinks you should try to go to an airport? You look at Professor Bean!

"Gotta go!"

You look around but you don't even know what an airport looks like!

It seems like you might have to ask some humans! It's a good thing there are so many humans around here! You look around again and then take a deep breath and walk up to one of the humans.

"Bronze Valley Airport?"

"Huh? The airport?" The human woman looks at you and Lottatax and says "No luck at the arena, huh?" She points her finger and says "The airport is on the other side of the city."

What? It's all the way on the other side of the city? You look back at the arena again and then nod at the human woman and start running the way she pointed.

"Thank you!"

You have to ask more humans where the airport is and by the time you get there, it's already starting to get dark! When you get to the airport you look around and see a little window like the one at the seaport in Aloi! It looks like you'll be able to buy a ticket here!

You walk up to the little window but when you get there you see it's closed! You had better do something!

You knock on the window!

Suddenly the window opens and a human man sticks his head out at you! "Whaddya want?"

You give the human man a determined look!

"A ticket!"

"Well, where ya goin'?"

"Copper Citadel!"

"Ticket to Copper Citadel is 50 coins."

What? The human man says you have to pay 50 coins to buy a ticket? You don't think you have that many coins!

"The next flight leaves tomorrow morning. Now stop botherin' me!" The human man slams the window closed!

You don't know what to do! It seems like you won't be able to get to Copper Citadel after all! You look around but you're starting to cry!

Suddenly you hear a human voice!

"Get a move on! We need to get in the air so we can get to Copper Citadel!"

You crouch down behind some big wooden boxes and see a human man next to a big balloon! It seems like the human man is getting ready to fly the balloon!

This might be your chance! You wait until the human man isn't looking and then run across the ground toward the balloon and climb inside and hide behind some boxes!

The human man walks around and around checking all the boxes. When you peek out you see a mon that looks like a fat chicken with squinting eyes and stubby wings! You don't know what kind of mon it is!

You squeeze between two boxes and hold your breath and after a few moments you hear the door close. You wait a little while and then you hear a motor and the floor starts to shake! It feels like the balloon is starting to float up into the air!

You wait a few more moments and then squeeze back out and crouch down behind the boxes and look at Lottatax. Lottatax looks up at you and then looks up and says "Lottatax!"

You look up and see one of the boxes starting to fall over! It's probably because you accidentally moved them! You grab the box with both hands but it's too heavy and it falls over onto the floor!

"Huh? Hey, what was that?" The human man looks back behind his chair and says "The last thing I need is a wild mon in the cargo hold! Skowl, go back there and take a look!"

The Skowl flaps its stubby wings and says "Skowooo!" and hops down onto the floor and starts hopping backward toward where you're hiding!

You can't help crawling backward toward the stack of boxes to hide from the Skowl but as soon as you back up, you bump into another box and when it shakes a different box falls off of it! Lottatax has to scurry out of the way as you jump at the box to try to catch it but it lands on the floor!

When you look up, Skowl is standing in front of you glaring at you!


Skowl is challenging Cutémon!

Skowl attacks before Cutémon was ready!

Skowl attacks with Para Eyes!


As soon as Skowl glares at you, your legs go numb and you fall down on the floor!

[SFX: clinking, rolling noise]

What? The Cutécaptor rolled out of your jacket pocket when you fell down? You must have left your pocket open when you took your sack of coins out to call Professor Bean! You watch the cutécaptor rolling across the floor but you can't do anything because the rest of your body is also numb!

Skowl looks at the cutécaptor and says "Skowooo?"

"Lottatax!" Suddenly Lottatax jumps at Skowl while it's looking at the cutécaptor!

Skowl spins its head the other way and glares at Lottatax and then Lottatax falls down on the floor!

Skowl looks at Lottatax and then hops across the floor after the cutécaptor! It looks like Skowl is going to pick it up! You try to grab the cutécaptor but you can hardly move at all! Skowl stands in front of the cutécaptor and looks at you and then picks up the cutécaptor with its stubby wings!

You can hardly move your head! When you look the other way you see the human man standing next to the boxes!

The human man can't believe it! "A stowaway!" He looks at Lottatax lying next to you and says "And... a Lottatax? Well, that Para Eyes should keep you both from causing any trouble until we get to Copper Citadel."

Skowl hops across the floor toward the human man and says "Skowooo!"

When the human man looks down at Skowl he says "What's this?" and picks up the cutécaptor! "Looks expensive. Where did a kid like you get something like this?" The human man is looking at you!

Even though you can hardly move, you can't help your cheeks turning red! You try to stand up and give the human man a determined look but you can hardly raise yourself up with your arms!

"It's mine!"

"Well, it'll have to do for payment. You're not riding for free, you know!"

What? The human man is saying he's going to keep the cutécaptor as payment?

It seems like he really is going to take the cutécaptor! You had better think of something else to offer him!

"I have coins!"

You didn't mean to say that out loud but the human man and Skowl are both looking at you! Even though you can hardly move, you reach into your jacket pocket and take out your sack of coins and drop it on the floor. Skowl hops across the floor toward the sack of coins and says "Skowooo!"

The human man picks it up and looks inside and then looks at you and Lottatax and says "Hey, you must be a pretty good rookie mon trainer if you're carrying this much money." He looks at the cutécaptor and holds his thumb over the circle! You try to jump up and grab it but you can't move! Finally he says "Alright, I guess I'd rather have the money than have to deal with selling this thing. Skowl, let 'em up."

Skowl says "Skowooo!" and makes a happy squinting face at you and suddenly you feel like you can move again!

Lottatax stands up and wobbles back and forth and says "Lottatax!"

When you stand back up, the human man is looking at you! He holds up the cutécaptor out of your reach and says "You know, I oughta keep this gadget too. That might teach you a lesson!"

What? The human man is going to keep the cutécaptor even though you gave him all your money? That's not fair!

You can't help crying!

"Hey, come on, now!" He crouches down next to you and says "Hey, come on, I was just joking about keeping this thing!" When you look up and wipe your eyes, you see him holding the cutécaptor out to you! "Here, see? Take it."

You take the cutécaptor and put it in your pocket and close your pocket as quickly as you can!

When you look back up, the human man is still crouching next to you! He looks at you and smiles and says "You're worse than Starr!"

"Starr?"

You didn't mean to say that out loud but he's nodding at you! "My daughter. She used to get whatever she wanted by crying."

What? Is the human man saying he's Starr's father?

"Hey, you know something, you remind me of her a little bit. The last time I saw her, she was training a water-type mon."

"Waterbear!"

You didn't mean to say that out loud either but he's nodding again! "That's right!" He looks at you closely and you can't help your cheeks turning red! "Hey, do you know Starr?"

You're nodding your head!

The human man stands up and says "My name's Ben Currant."

You hold out your hand and Ben shakes it!

"Mashi!"

"Well, why don't you and your Lottatax come sit up front where it's more comfortable. We can make room, right, Skowl?"

You sit down in the comfortable chair!

...

"Skowooo!"

Suddenly you wake up and look out the side window and see buildings underneath you! It looks like you're already above Copper Citadel!

Ben drives the balloon through the air above Copper Citadel until you see a big open area with lots of lights.

"That's the airport down below us. Hold on to your seat, Mashi!"

Lottatax looks out the window and says "Lottatax!" and then hides between you and the seat!

You close your eyes and hold on to your seat as tightly as you can and the balloon starts to sink out of the air down to the ground! You keep holding on and then open your eyes and look at Ben.

What? Ben is grinning at you? When you look around it seems like the balloon already landed!

Lottatax squirms out from behind you and looks around and then smiles at you and says "Lottatax!"

After Ben shuts off the balloon's motor he stands up and walks toward the back of the balloon and opens the door and looks at you. "Do you know where you're going from here? Copper Citadel is a rough place. There are stray mons everywhere."

"Copper Citadel Arena!"

Ben nods and looks out the doorway. It seems like he's thinking about something! He looks back at you and says "I'll be here for a few hours if you need a ride back to Bronze Valley."

You stand up and walk toward the door and look back at Ben.

"Thank you, Ben!"

"Well, at least Starr has polite friends. Come on, Skowl, let's get these unloaded."

"Skowooo!"

You look at Lottatax.

"Ready?"

"Lottatax!"

You walk away from the airport into Copper Citadel! You keep walking down the street and then after a while you turn and walk down another street!

...

You don't know where you're going! The last time you were here, you had Tamounda with you to help guide you around the city! You stop walking and look around at the human buildings.

Lottatax climbs up onto your shoulder and looks around and then looks at you. "Lottatax?" It seems like Lottatax wants to know where you're going!

You don't know what to say! You look around but you don't recognize any of the buildings. It seems like you might be lost!

"Skyyyyy!"

Suddenly, you hear a noise above you and when you look up you see a purple mon that looks like a bat with huge ears and one clawed foot! It's a Skyrap!

Look out!


Skyrap is challenging Cutémon!

Skyrap attacks with Leech Screech!


Suddenly, you feel sleepy even though you just woke up from a nap! It's probably because Skyrap attacked you with Leech Screech!

You look at Lottatax!

"Lottatax! Tongue attack!"

Lottatax says "Lottatax!" and sticks out its tongue but Skyrap flutters out of the way and bites Lottatax's tongue!

"Skyyyyy!"

"I thought you knew enough to stay away from here, Cutémon."

What? You just heard that in your mind?

Suddenly, you see something move in the shadows between two buildings and then it steps out into the moonlight!

It's Ward!

You're so happy you can't contain yourself!

"Ward!"

"At least Skyrap will get some energy."

What? Ward is turning away? Skyrap flaps its wings and glares at you and Lottatax and says "Skyyyyy!"

Lottatax flattens its head spikes back and glares up at Skyrap and says "Lottatax!"

You give Ward a determined look!

"We need help!"

"You shouldn't get involved with humans, Cutémon. They only lead you into trouble."

What? You just remembered the strange glowing square on Ward's head? Even though you can't see it because he's wearing a hat, you know it's there!

"You might get something even worse if you're not careful. Go back to your home terrain where you belong."

You shift your stance and put your hands on your hips!

"They're my friends!"

"I was wrong before. You really don't know anything about humans. Maybe it's better that you came here after all."

"Please help us!"

Ward turns away again and starts to walk back into the shadows! You don't know what to do! It seems like Ward really isn't going to help you rescue your friends!

"Like I said, at least Skyrap will get some energy."

Skyrap flaps its wings and says "Skyyyyy!"

Ward squeezes both your arms so tightly that you can hardly stand the pain! You can't help crying out! When you look around for Lottatax, you see it clinging to Skyrap and biting it as Skyrap scratches Lottatax with its claw! You look back up at Ward and he looks down at you.

You look around and see Ward's arm and then grin at Ward!

You bite Ward's arm and he lets go and you scramble away and stand up. Even though you're panting, you still give Ward a determined look and then run at him again!

The humans take a step forward toward you and one of them says "We got a call about a mon fight happening in the middle of the street!"

Lottatax and Skyrap stop fighting and Lottatax drops onto the street and takes a step backward and says "Lottatax!" and flattens its head spikes back!

"You kids are in big trouble! We're confiscating those mons and taking you to the police station!"

You and Ward take another step backward! You look around and see two other humans wearing uniforms running up the street behind you! It seems like you're surrounded!

Ward glances backward at the two humans behind you and then glances at Skyrap and then grabs your hand!

What? Ward is holding your hand? You can't help your cheeks turning red!

Suddenly Skyrap says "Skyyyyy!" and grabs Lottatax with its claw and flies up into the sky!

Lottatax can't believe it! "Lottatax!"


Ward is using Evade!


Ward holds his hand out at the humans and leads you past them but the humans don't seem to see you, even though they're looking right at you! Ward holds your hand and leads you across the street and into the shadows between two buildings and then lets go and looks back at the humans.

"We lost it!"

"Those kids just vanished!"

"That's impossible! Come on, they must have gone down this alley!" The humans all start running away from you toward the other side of the street!

Ward is looking at you!

"Now the Mon Control will be searching for me."

You can't help taking a step backward!

"We need a ride out of Copper Citadel. A fast one."

What? You just remembered Starr's father Ben said he would give you a ride in his balloon?

"We'll meet you at the airport, Skyrap."

"Skyyyy!"

What? Skyrap is fluttering down toward the ground with Lottatax? Skyrap drops Lottatax and Lottatax looks up at Ward and then looks at you and says "Lottatax?"

"This is Ward!"

Lottatax says "Lottatax..." and flattens its head spikes back and then walks in a wide circle around Ward and climbs up onto your back and peeks over your shoulder at him!

Ward leads you to the airport as quickly as he can and when you get there you can see Skyrap circling around overhead! You look around and see the balloon you rode in to get here and point at it!

"There it is!"

You and Ward walk across the open area toward the balloon and Skyrap flutters down next to Ward. When you get closer to the balloon Skowl pokes its head out of the open door in the back and says "Skowooo!"

When Skowl says that, Ben stands up from behind some big wooden boxes! "Oh, Mashi! Great timing. We're just about to lift off." When he walks around the boxes and gets a little closer he looks at you and Ward and says "Must have been some match!"

It seems like you might have to be even nicer to Ben to make up for it! You had better say something quickly!

It looks like that worked! Ben nods at Ward and says "Another mon trainer? Welcome aboard! Mashi, why don't you show Ward and his Skyrap around while Skowl and I get ready for liftoff?"

"Mashi?"

You and Ward climb into the balloon and sit down and a few moments later Ben and Skowl close the door and Ben walks up to the front of the balloon and grins at you when he sits down. "Liftoff is a lot easier than landing!"

You can hear the motor and then the balloon starts to float up into the air and you float away from Copper Citadel into the night sky!

"Oh, I almost forgot. Skowl, go and get that box of dried fruit." Ben watches as Skowl hops away and then looks at you and says "This got left behind on the last delivery."

Skowl holds a cardboard box with a picture of a fruit on it out to you!

"Skowooo!"

You open the box and inside is some dried fruit! You eat a piece and then give a piece to Lottatax and then hold out a piece to Ward.

What? Ward doesn't want any?

"I don't eat fruit."

You eat another few pieces and then give Lottatax another piece and put the rest in your jacket pocket! You're not hungry anymore!

After a little while you can see it's almost morning, and a few moments later Ben says "We're approaching Bronze Valley."

What? You're already back in Bronze Valley! This balloon really is fast!

The balloon sinks down at the airport and when it lands on the ground Ben turns off the motor and stands up and walks to the back and opens the door.

You stand up and look at Skowl!

"Goodbye, Skowl!"

Skowl squints at you and says "Skowooo!"

Lottatax climbs onto your back and you walk to the back of the balloon and look at Ben.

"Thank you, Ben!"

"You're welcome. Sorry for giving you a hard time before. Hey, Mashi... if you see Starr again... tell her..." Ben looks away at the sky for a moment. "Well, you're probably busy. I'll see you later!" Ben turns around and walks back into the balloon and Skowl hops after him!

You look at the balloon and then look at Ward and Skyrap and Lottatax!

"Ready?

You start walking toward the Bronze Valley Arena! It's easy to find because you can see it from the airport! You walk away from the airport and then start walking through an open field. As you and Ward walk toward it you see some humans all looking at some papers.

Suddenly one of the humans says "A human-type mon!"

What? Does one of the humans know you're a Cutémon? You crouch down behind a flat bush and look at Ward but then you hear the humans talking again!

"No way!"

"That's what it says!"

"A human-type mon?"

"Tonight in the arena!"

"No wonder there's already a crowd!"

"It's gonna be a sold out fight!"

Ward is looking at you! It seems like he's interested in Auroara!

What? Professor Ginger knows about Auroara even though Auroara was sleeping for thousands of years?

"I know a lot about that place, Cutémon. If there really is an Auroara inside, we need to get her out of that arena before Professor Ginger or any of the others arrive."

What? You just remembered Diamond has a Horriborb guarding the arena?

"I don't sense any psychic-type mons outside the arena. If you already fought a Horriborb, it read your mind. It might be hiding inside now. We'll have to wait until tonight when they open the arena doors."

After it gets dark, you and Ward start walking closer to the arena and after a little while you can see a huge crowd of humans around the front doors! It seems like the entire arena is going to be filled with humans!

What? You just remembered you don't have any money to buy a ticket?

"I can get us in with my Evade. It only works on humans, so don't count on it."

You look at Ward and nod and then Ward holds your hand again! Even though you knew it was going to happen you can't help your cheeks turning red! Ward leads you through the crowd of humans with Lottatax on your back and through the front doors past the human guards and into the Bronze Valley Arena! The humans are all walking the same direction, so it's easy to follow them past the humans collecting tickets until you get to a big doorway that leads to the seats above the arena floor!

After a few moments all the seats fill up with humans and even more humans keep coming in until you can hardly move!

Suddenly, you hear a voice over the speakers! "Welcome to the Bronze Valley Arena."

It's Diamond!

"We have a full house tonight! Of course, you're all here for the main event, and I'm not going to keep you waiting."

[SFX: spotlight switch]

A spotlight turns on and you see Auroara on the arena floor! The audience can't believe it!

"Ladies and gentlemen, one of the rarest types of all mons, fighting exclusively in the Bronze Valley Arena. She may not be very big, but she's quite a handful. We only acquired her yesterday, but I have a feeling she's going to be one of the house favorites from now on. Believe it or not, she came here on her own! She's eager to put on a great fight for us, so let's get started!"

Auroara glares up at the spotlight and then looks around and tries to stand up. It seems like she doesn't have very much energy!

"Chompex!"

What? Chompex is here?

I'm starting to get the feeling we misjudged Plumtree. He may be a bit of a perv, but he might be a genuinely nice guy (he gave the cutecaptor to Joe instead of trying to use it himself, after all). I wonder what Springblock's story is.

The guy introduced himself with the prose version of an 'UOOH' post, of course the player would think he's morally dubious. He hasn't done much to change that impression or settle Mashi-mon's fears either, so the impression will likely stick. Ginger of course has skeletons in her closet according to Ward, but she's clearly better at hiding it than Plumtree is.
Joe being a swell gentleman who loves his family, Plumtree likely does hold him in some regard and wouldn't mind having is help, but I can imagine Joe being put off if Plumtree couldn't control his urges properly in a hypothetical route where the player decided to settle down for a long term relationship via Cutecaptor.

Chompex attacks with Tackle Bite!


Chompex jumps at Auroara before she can stand up! You can't help covering your eyes!

Suddenly you feel Ward grab your arm and when you open your eyes Ward is looking at you!

"Forget about them for now. They're giving us a good distraction. Let's find the pens."

You stand up and Ward grabs your hand again! Even though you're expecting it, you can't help your cheeksturning red! Ward leads you and Lottatax past some human guards and into a stairwell that leads down.

"We can get to the staging area from here. The mon pens should be close to the arena floor."

You and Ward walk down the stairs and peek through a door at the bottom and see a hallway with a doorway at the other end! A human man walks out of the doorway and down the hall and you close the door and peek out at him but he doesn't seem to notice you! After the human is gone you peek out into the hall again and then look at Ward and he nods his head and you both tip-toe out of the door and down the hall.

When you get to the end of the hallway you peek through the door and see a narrow room with one wall that's just made out of cage doors and bars and a balcony above another doorway at the far end! It looks like you found the mon pens!

Inside one of the small cages, you see Ramster sitting in the back of the cage playing a tiny harmonica with his eyes closed!

[SFX: blues harmonica]

"Ram-ram! Ram-ram!"

[SFX: harmonica continues]

"Ram-ram! Ram-ram!"

What? You didn't know Ramster could play the harmonica? He's really going! You almost don't want to stop him!

You peek into the cage and grin at Ramster!

"Hi, Ramster!"

Suddenly Ramster opens his eyes and looks up at you! Ramster can't believe it! He jumps up off the cage floor and runs toward the bars and reaches his paws out toward you and says "Ram-ram!"

Even though Ramster is straining as hard as he can, he can't fit between the bars!

"Tamounda!"

What? Tamounda is here too? You look down and see Tamounda underneath Ramster in one of the bigger cages on the floor and then crouch down in front of him!

"Hi, Tamounda!"

Tamounda sticks out his tongue and licks you through the bars!

Lottatax climbs up onto your shoulder and looks down at Tamounda and says "Lottatax?"

Tamounda looks up at Lottatax and then backs up away from the cage bars!

You glance over your shoulder at Lottatax and then look at Tamounda!

"This is Lottatax!"

Tamounda trots forward and says "Tamounda!" and then licks Lottatax through the bars! Lottatax can't believe it!

"Waddabeah!"

[SFX: double shell clap]

What? Waterbear and Clambreak are here too? When you stand back up you see Waterbear and Clambreak inside cages on the wall next to Ramster!

Suddenly, you hear a voice from the doorway!

"Oh, wow! It's really you!"

Starr grins at you and says "Hey, kid!"

Booker looks at you and says "Hrmph. Took you long enough to get here!" and then looks away before you can see him smile!

You can't believe it!

"Booker! Starr!"

It seems like your human friends aren't captured anymore! You had better...

What? You think this might be another one of Horriborb's tricks?

You give Mashi a determined look!

"Is it you?"

"Yeah!" Mashi grins at you and says "Who'd you think it was?"

You thought it might be Horriborb tricking you with its Mirage ability, but it seems like it really is Mashi, Booker, and Starr! You're so happy you can't contain yourself! You run toward Mashi to give her a hug!

Suddenly Ward grabs your arm! You look over your shoulder at Ward and see him glaring past you at your human friends!

"Look again."

Effects of Mirage cancelled.

Horriborb attacks with Mirage!

It doesn't seem to have any effect!


When you look back at your human friends, they disappear and you see Rattletrap, Catscan, and Horriborb in front of you!

The three mons look at each other and then realize Horriborb's Mirage isn't working and look back at you and Ward!

Ward lets go of your arm and shifts his stance and looks up at them!

Lottatax jumps off your shoulder onto the floor and flattens its head spikes back and looks up at them and says "Lottatax!"

Rattletrap raises itself up on its tail and looms over you and Ward and Lottatax and says "Ssssssss..." and snaps its jaws!

Horriborb's eyes flash and it starts floating through the air toward you and Ward and Lottatax and grinding its teeth!

Ward and Lottatax take a step backward!

Catscan says "Catscannn..." and takes a step forward but then suddenly turns around and runs out of the mon pens through the doorway behind Rattletrap and Horriborb!

"Ram-ram!"

"Tamounda!"

"Waddabeah!"

[SFX: double shell clap]

You look back at your friends in the cages but they still can't get out!

I hear you guys.
Catscan running off means he can get reinforcements, which can make the entire operation a bust. Ward seems strong so he may be able to fight off Rattletrap even with Horriborb's influence, but things may get complicated if more players appear.
While I do want our boys back in play, I'm not sure what we can do to get them out yet, short of just picking up the cages if they're small enough. We'd need to break through the locks somehow, since I doubt the cages wouldn't have been Mon-proofed to some degree.

In either case, we don't have much time to do things here. I think delaying anyone else coming can get use more wiggle room, but probably not too much.

It seems like you had better catch Catscan before it tells anyone else that you're here! You run forward toward Rattletrap and Horriborb but then crouch down and roll underneath Rattletrap as it tries to bite you! Rattletrap turns around to try and bite you as you run out of the doorway and into another hallway but then you hear Lottatax say "Lottatax!"

Your feet almost slip on the tiled floor but then you catch yourself against the wall and chase Catscan down the hallway! Catscan looks back at you and says "Catsc-" but then it slips on the tiled floor!


Cutémon attacks before Catscan was ready!

Cutémon attacks with Bite!


You jump through the air and bite Catscan's tail before it can stand up! Catscan can't believe it!

Catscan spins around and pulls its tail out of your mouth and says "Catscannn!" and jumps at you and tries to swipe at you with its claws but you dodge out of the way and Catscan tumbles through the air and lands on its feet!


Catscan attacks with TK Drain!


Catscan attacks you with TK Drain just like Horriborb did! Your skin feels like it's on fire again but somehow this time it hurts even more! You can hardly stand the pain! It seems like Catscan's TK Drain is even more powerful than Horriborb's TK Drain!

You fall down on your knees and Catscan crouches down and gets ready to pounce at you! Suddenly you dodge sideways and Catscan disappears!

What? Catscan just jumped into a chute in the wall that smells like garbage? You can hear Catscan's claws scratching on the metal sides as it falls down the chute but then you hear human voices behind you! You had better hide somewhere! You look around and see a pillar and hide behind it and then peek around it and see two humans!

It's Diamond and Trent!

"Now that our mystery mon is charged up from defeating that Chompex, I think it's time we gave the crowd a look at our Sailater."

What? Is Diamond talking about the Sailater that Joe captured?

Trent can't believe it! "The Sailater? Are you kidding?"

"We have to give the audience a good show."

"You've been keeping that Sailater pretty hungry. You really think that human-type mon will be able to beat it?"

"No, but she'll give them a good fight, and besides, even if she is a human-type mon she's ultimately expendable. It's that Cutémon we really want." Diamond glances at Trent and says "Speaking of, shouldn't you be guarding the mon pens in case that Cutémon shows up?"

Trent waves his hand and says "Relax! I've got Catscan watching the pens."

"Go check and make sure nothing's amiss." Diamond walks past your hiding spot and looks over her shoulder and says "I have to go to the staging area and get the Sailater ready to be released onto the arena floor."

Auroara is a far more lucrative Mon than Mashi, so it's probably because she has a vendetta against her. I wouldn't be surprised if she's starting to get squeezed by the Traders for using their "stock" so recklessly.

It really hurts Ward!


Through the doorway you see Rattletrap squeezing its tail around Ward! It looks like Ward can't get loose!

Lottatax says "Lottatax!" and jumps at Rattletrap but Horriborb swoops down and grabs Lottatax with its mouth and starts grinding its teeth!


Horriborb attacks with Grinder!

It really hurts Lottatax!


"You little punk! What are you doing here with that Lottatax?" Trent looks at Rattletrap and says "Take him to the staging area! Catscan and I will... hey, where's Catscan?" Trent looks at Horriborb and then Horriborb's eyes rotate toward the doorway!

Horriborb is looking at you! Trent turns and sees you and so does Rattletrap!

Trent can't believe it! "It's that Cutémon! Get it, quick!" He looks at Rattletrap and says "Forget about that kid!"

Rattletrap says "Ssssssss?" and then uncoils its tail and drops Ward on the floor and slithers toward you!


Rattletrap is challenging Cutémon!

Rattletrap attacks with Slap!

It really hurts!


Rattletrap slaps you with its tail and you go flying backward through the air and land on the floor and slide backward until your back hits the wall of cage doors! You can hardly stand the pain! You open your eyes and see Rattletrap slithering across the room toward you!


Rattletrap attacks with Fangs!

Cutémon dodges out of the way!


Suddenly Rattletrap's head lunges down to bite you but you roll out of the way just in time!

What? Rattletrap is stuck to the cage door? It seems like its fangs are caught in the bars!

"Tamounda!"

What? Rattletrap is stuck to Tamounda's cage?


Tamounda is challenging Rattletrap!

Tamounda attacks with Snoot!

Can't block lick attacks!


Tamounda sticks out his tongue between the cage bars and licks Rattletrap!

Rattletrap's tail starts thrashing around and then it tears the cage door off of Tamounda's cage!

Trent can't believe it! "Watch what you're doing, you dumb-"

Suddenly Rattletrap's tail slaps Trent and he goes flying backward into a panel on the wall!

What? Even Torrentani is here? When you look back at Rattletrap and Horriborb, the cage door falls off of Rattletrap's fangs and then Rattletrap and Horriborb look at each other and look back at you and all your friends!


Clambreak attacks with Power Snap!

Ramster attacks with Horns!

Waterbear attacks with Hydrant!

Cutémon attacks with Bite!

Tamounda attacks with Tail!

Lottatax attacks with Fangs!

Torrentani attacks with Cloudburst!

Ward attacks with Soul Fire!


You look down and see Rattletrap and Horriborb lying on the ground underneath you!

What? You think this might be one of Horriborb's tricks?


You can feel the energy from winning your battle reinvigorating you!


That wasn't a trick!

"Tamounda!"

You turn around and see Tamounda looking inside the wall of cages. When you crouch down next to him you see the back of the cage is open! It looks like all the cages open on both sides of the wall!

What? You just realized that's how the humans get the mons from the cages into the staging area? You know what that means, don't you?

...

It means you can get to the staging area from here!

"The staging area!"

You meant to say that out loud! You look at your friends and point at the cage and then climb inside and out the back of the cage and look around and see a big doorway on the other side of the room! It seems like this must lead to the staging area!

What? You just noticed there's a mon detector at the end of the hallway? It looks like the sliding door of the mon entrance you saw in the Rust City Arena! You walk up to the door and it slides open!

"Come on, you! Get in there!"

[SFX: loud roaring]

What? Diamond is on the other side of the door trying to make the Sailater walk through a doorway onto the arena floor? You can see Chompex and Auroara from here!

Diamond and the Sailater both stop and look at you and then suddenly rainclouds form inside the room and lighting strikes everywhere and the Sailater starts charging across the staging area toward you!

Look out!


Sailater is challenging everyone!

Sailater attacks with Rainstorm!

Everyone is fleeing the fight!


You and your friends all scatter out of the way and the Sailater charges past you through the mon detector toward the mon pens!

Diamond can't believe it! "No, stop! Those walls aren't double-reinforced!"

The Sailater smashes through the wall and keeps going!

What? Mashi, Booker, and Starr were on the other side of the wall? When the Sailater broke a hole in the wall it opened up the room where your human friends were!

Waterbear says "Waddabeah!" and waddles across the room toward Starr!

Torrentani flies across the room toward Booker and then spins around in a circle and says "TANI!"

Booker grabs Torrentani and says "Torrentani! You're still alive!" What? Booker is starting to cry? He turns away but you're pretty sure he's crying!

"It's you!" Mashi is smiling at you!

What? You're not sure if this is another of Horriborb's tricks? You look at Ward and he glances at them and then nods at you!

"It's really them."

You hug Mashi!

Clambreak flies around Starr's head and claps twice!

Starr is smiling even more! "Clambreak!" Starr glances at Ward and says "Didn't expect to see you here."

What? You just remembered Starr thinks Ward is a human boy?

Starr looks at you and asks "What made you want to bring him along?"

You don't know what to say!

Starr looks at Waterbear and Clambreak and says "Hey, where's Chompex?"

"Get back here, human! You will answer for these... indignities!"

"Chompex!"

What? Auroara and Chompex are here? You look across the staging area and see Diamond running away from them through a doorway but the door slides closed before Auroara and Chompex can get there!

[SFX: loud rumbling]

It sounds like the Sailater is still smashing through walls!

[SFX: loud roaring]

It sounds like the Sailater is still really angry!

What? You think it sounds like the Sailater is coming back this way?

Speaking of the LOVE option, I wonder if it's possible to train it, or if it's something that's at the story's discretion. It's clear that Love isn't just blushy-crushy romance stuff and will end up functioning differently than the other two stats. We've already seen it related to de-escalation options in conflict, as well as options relating to trust.

While I'm not sure if Sailator will appreciate our affection, I agree that it's odd that Joe is the only one missing.

You give Wade and Auroara a determined look!

"Meet at Joe's!"

Auroara is looking at you! "I hope you know what you're doing, little mon."

[SFX: loud roaring]

You can't help looking over your shoulder at the doorway to the mon pens!

"Run!"

You turn around and look at the doorway!

"Ram-ram!"

"Tamounda!"

"Lottatax!"

What? Ramster, Tamounda, and Lottatax are here? You give them a determined look!

"Run away!"

Ramster jumps onto your shoulder and says "Ram-ram!"

Tamounda huddles against your leg and says "Tamounda!"

Lottatax climbs onto your back and peeks over your other shoulder and says "Lottatax!"

It seems like your friends are going to face Sailater with you!

You and your friends hold onto each other and look at the doorway! Suddenly you see Sailater's shadow appear! A moment later Sailater sticks its snout out of the doorway and sees you and roars! Are you really going to try to hug Sailater?

You look up at Sailater and put out your hand but then Sailater starts charging across the staging area at you!


Sailater attacks with Fin Slice!

It really hurts!


Sailater leans sideways and whips the big fin on its back through the air so quickly that a shockwave knocks you and your friends all the way across the room! Sailater stomps its feet and roars and charges across the room toward you!

You wait until Sailater is almost in front of you and then jump to the side! Sailater can't stop and smashes through the wall! You can see the night sky so you run outside as quickly as you can! It looks like you might be able to run away from Sailater!


Sailater attacks with Land Rush!


You start running away but Sailater stomps one foot on the ground and a groundquake breaks up the concrete in a ripple wave that knocks you and your friends backward off your feet! The wave of concrete rubble rolls outward in a huge cloud of dust and when the dust starts to settle you see you're standing on the edge of a chasm!

You can't help taking a step backward and starting to fall into the chasm! You wave your arms and fall forward onto the ground and look up and see Ramster and Tamounda and Lottatax!

What? They're all looking at something? You look past them and see Sailater!

Sailater sees you and stomps its feet! It looks like Sailater is getting ready to charge! You look around but you can't run anywhere because you're at the edge of the chasm!

"Ram-ram!"

What? Ramster sees something? You look up and see a balloon flying toward the arena!

It's Ben's balloon!

Sailater looks up at the balloon and roars! You can't help looking up at the balloon but then you look back at...

What? You just noticed the back doorof the balloon is opening up even though the balloon is still really high up in the sky?

Suddenly a human on a motorcycle drives out of the back door of the balloon into the air!

You can't believe it!

It's Joe!

Joe flies out into the air on the motorcycle but then he starts to fall out of the sky!

Joe is falling straight down! You don't know what to do! It looks like he's about to crash into the ground! You cover your eyes with your...

Suddenly Joe leans forward and says "Now, Volito!" and Volito rises up behind Joe!

"VO-LITO!"

What? The motorcycle is starting to sparkle and fly through the air toward you and Sailater? It's probably because Volito is making them fly!

The motorcycle lands on the ground and skids across the concrete in front of you in a wave of sparkles and stops between you and Sailater!

Sailater can't help taking a step backward!

You're so happy you can't contain yourself!

"Joe!"

Joe stands up off the motorcycle and looks back at you. "Are you alright?"

You're nodding your head!

Joe looks at Sailater and says "Thanks, Volito."

"VO-LITO!"

[SFX: loud roaring]

Sailater is stomping its feet! It's getting ready to charge!

Look out, Joe!

What? Joe is walking toward Sailater? Joe walks right up to Sailater and puts his hand on its snout and Sailater sniffs Joe's hand and then closes its eyes and lies down!

It looks like Sailater is taking a nap!

Joe keeps his hand on Sailater's snout for a moment and then turns around and smiles at you!

What? Suddenly you have a strange feeling in your chest? This isn't quite like the other strange feelings!

"Hey, let's go!"

You look over your shoulder and see Starr in the back doorway of Ben's balloon as it lands on your side of the chasm! Starr is looking at you with Booker, Torrentani, Mashi, Auroara, Ben, Skowl, Chompex, Waterbear, and Clambreak!

You and Joe let go of each other as quickly as you can and take a step back!

"Volito!" Mashi runs out of the balloon and Volito spins around in the air toward her!

"VO-LITO!"

Mashi hugs Volito and starts to cry! It seems like she's crying even though she's happy! Mashi looks up at you and says "Thank you!"

Starr leans out the doorway and shouts "Hey, come on! I don't want to hang around here any longer than I already have!"

Ramster says "Ram-ram!" and starts running toward the balloon! Tamounda says "Tamounda!" and runs past Ramster up the ramp into the balloon!

Lottatax says "Lottatax!" and sticks its tongue out at Tamounda and reels itself onto Tamounda's back! Tamounda looks back and says "Tamounda!" and stumbles and Ramster runs into Tamounda and they all roll up the ramp into the balloon!

Joe looks at Sailater and taps its snout and Sailater's eyes open and it stands up! Joe guides Sailater into the back door of the balloon with the motorcycle and Sailater squeezes through the doorway with Starr and Auroara and Mashi behind it.

What? You just realized Ward and Skyrap aren't here? You look around and see Ward in the shadows away from everyone else!

"Looks crowded. Skyrap and I are staying here for now."

It seems like Ward isn't coming with you!

"Hey kid, hurry up!"

You look back over your shoulder at Starr but when you look back at Ward you can't see him anymore! You can't help looking at the shadows for a moment but then you turn around and run toward the balloon and climb up into the doorway next to Joe, Auroara, and Mashi.

Starr looks over Sailater's tail at you. "Everybody here?" You look around and see Joe, Torrentani, Booker, Volito, Mashi, Sailater, Ramster, Tamounda, Waterbear, Chompex, Clambreak, Auroara, and Lottatax! It seems like all your friends are safe! You look at Starr and nod your head and then Starr looks toward the front of the balloon and shouts "All clear!"

It sounds like the motor is having a hard time getting the balloon back in the air! It's probably because Sailater is so big! Everyone is crowded together so tightly that Sailater can't even turn around!

What? You just realized Joe is looking at Auroara's horns? Auroara notices Joe looking at her horns!

Auroara's cheeks are turning red! She glances away and looks back at Joe and says "I used to have a hat."

Joe looks over Sailater's tail at Starr and Starr says "You must be Joe."

Joe is nodding his head!

"It's a long story. I'm Starr." She looks at you and says "Hey, where's that weird kid?"

What? Starr is asking about Ward? You don't know what to say!

Starr shrugs and looks out the window and says "It's probably a good thing he didn't come with. I can't believe this thing got airborne."

"I heard that!" Ben turns around in his seat and looks back at Starr. "And now that I got this 'thing' airborne, where are we going?"

What? Ben wants to know where to drive the balloon? It seems like you should all go to Joe's house!

You open your mouth but suddenly Auroara looks at Ben and says "If Patina is northwest, our heading should be northeast until we can determine if we're being pursued."

Ben looks at Skowl and says "What do you think, Skowl?"

Skowl spins its head around and looks at Auroara and gives her a happy squint and then looks at Ben and says "Skowooo!"

Ben turns back toward the control panel and says "Northeast it is!"

You look out the back window and see Bronze Valley disappear and then notice Joe looking out the window next to you. Joe looks at you and says "That night in Rust City... after they captured us, they started driving south but when they got a flat tire I was able to escape. I tried to help Mashi and Booker but I couldn't do anything. When I got back to the Rust City Arena, they had already taken Sailater. I didn't know what to do, so I went back to my house."

What? Joe is looking at Volito? You look at Joe and he smiles at you and nods at Volito. "When I got to my house, Volito was already there. My sister told me you stopped at our house on the way to Bronze Valley. I guess Volito must have really liked my mom's cooking!"

"VO-LITO!"

"I met Mr. Currant yesterday when he was making a delivery run to the gas station in Patina. When he told me a mon trainer with a red hat named Mashi was going to the Bronze Valley Arena, I knew it had to be you." Joe looks around at the inside of the balloon and says "I'm glad we got here in time to help."

It seems like everyone was pretty lucky!

Mashi looks out the back window and says "Wow, look at that!"

When you look out the back window you see the balloon is passing by a huge tower that looks like the ruins east of Ferropolis!

What? You just saw two lights come out of the tower?

It looks like the two lights are flying toward you!

"Hey, what are those?" Starr pushes herself between you and Mashi and looks out the window at the two lights.

"Auraprimas!"

What? Auroara just said a word you've never heard before? You don't know what it means but Auroara is looking out the window with a strange expression on her face! Auroara glances at you and then looks back out the window without saying anything else! The two lights fly up into the sky toward the balloon and when they get closer you can see the two lights are really two human girls with blonde hair and gold horns!

What? You don't think they're really human girls? You might be right! It seems like they might be human-type mons called Auraprimas!

"Hey, what's going on back there?" Ben and Skowl peek over Sailater but none of your other friends can see what's happening because Sailater is in the way!

The Auraprimas fly up into the sky alongside the balloon and look at it for a moment and then look at each other and suddenly fly out of sight!

You don't know where they...

[SFX: loud metal creaking, wind blowing]

What? The back door of the balloon is splitting open even though you're high up in the air? It opens further and you see the Auraprimas are forcing the back door apart with their bare hands while they're floating behind it!

What? You just noticed their horns are glowing with a strange green light? It looks like the way Auroara looks when she has a lot of energy!

The Auraprimas force the back door all the way open and then look at you and your friends! You can't help trying to take a step back but you're already squeezed up against Sailater's tail! Both Auraprimas step into the balloon and one of them says "We have need of our lesser sister. Prima."

"Yes, Aura."

Suddenly both Auraprimas reach forward and grab Auroara and fly out of the balloon with her!

"Aaah!" Suddenly Mashi falls onto the floor and starts sliding toward the open door! You grab her hand but then you start to slide out of the balloon and grab Sailater's tail!

[SFX: roaring noise]

Sailater doesn't like it!

You pull Mashi back into the balloon and let go of Sailater's tail and push yourself backward onto the floor and then Starr and Joe push the back door closed.

Mashi is looking at you!

"Thanks!"

You look up at Ben but you can only see Sailater! What? Are you really going to climb over Sailater?

You climb over Sailater toward the front of the balloon!

[SFX: growling noise]

Sailater doesn't like it!

When you climb down from Sailater's shoulder, Ben looks over at you and asks "What happened?"

"They took Auroara!"

"What? You mean that..." Ben glances back and then looks at you. "Hey, I don't think I can do anything. I mean, we're already carrying more than we can-"

"Please follow them!"

"Hey, don't start that again!" It seems like Ben can see you're about to start crying! He looks at the control panel and then grins at you and says "You really are worse than Starr!" Ben pushes a lever all the way forward and says "Alright, here we go!"

[SFX: motor revving]

Even though Ben is driving the balloon as fast as it can go, it still can't go very fast because Sailater weighs so much! Ben checks the control panel again and says "It seems like they're heading north." You look out the front window of the balloon but you can't even see the glow from the Auraprimas anymore! You look at Ben and see him glance back and notice you and he says "We can still follow them with these." Ben taps a dial on the control panel. "Even if we can't see them with our eyes, we can use these instruments to figure out which way they're going and change our own course to match. That way, even if it takes us longer to get there, we'll know we're going the right direction."

You're don't really know what he's talking about, but it seems like you'll have to trust Ben and his instruments to follow Auroara! You crouch down next to Ben and Skowl and watch the water underneath the balloon. After a while the balloon floats over some cliffs and forest and then over the ground.

Suddenly Ben reaches over and starts tapping the instruments on the control panel and says "Hey, what's going on?"

You look at Ben!

"What's wrong?

"All of a sudden all the instruments are going haywire! I can't tell where we are!"

[SFX: muffled thump]

Just as you start to look away from the window, the clouds underneath the balloon are all blown away outward in a circle from an enormous hole in the ground by a huge energy beam!

Suddenly the energy beam swings downward toward the balloon!

[SFX: explosion]

When the energy beam strikes the balloon, everything starts to shake and the balloon starts to tilt downward!

"Skowooo!"

"Ram-ram!"

"Tamounda!"

"Dad!"

Ben can't believe it! He glances back at Starr and grins. "Five years and this is what it takes to-"

[SFX: roaring noise]

Sailater doesn't like it!

The balloon tilts even further and Tamounda and Ramster tumble over you and pin Skowl against the front window! Skowl can't believe it! "Skowooo!" Skowl looks out the window at the ground coming closer and says "Skowooo!" and starts flapping its stubby wings as hard as it can but it can't go anywhere!

Ben is flipping all the switches on the control panel back and forth and tapping all the instruments! "Hold on! This might be a rough landing!"

Suddenly the balloon tips sideways and swings around the hole in a wide circle and gets closer and closer to the ground and then you hear the sound of branches snapping underneath the balloon! The bottom of the balloon breaks free of the tree branches and then you don't hear anything but then the balloon crashes against the ground!

...

It seems like the balloon is done moving! Ben looks at you and asks "Anything broken?"

You shake your head and then look around at your friends!

"Ram-ram!

"Tamounda!"

"Lottatax!"

Ben leans over and says "How about you, Skowl?"

Skowl climbs back onto its feet and squints. "Skowooo!"

It seems like everyone is alright!

Ben opens the front door next to him and climbs out. "I've flown this route for years! That hole wasn't there before!" Ben climbs down onto the ground and walks around out of sight and then you hear the back door opening and everyone climbs out onto the ground.

When everyone is outside, Ben and Starr walk around the balloon and point at where it crashed. It seems like they're thinking about how to fix it!

After a little while they walk back over and Ben says "I think we can get her airborne, but we'll need some help." He glances toward the huge hole. "I'd like to be able to get out of here if we need to."

What? Ben is saying they need to fix the balloon before they try to help Auroara? You look around and see Booker looking at you!

Booker looks toward the huge hole and then leans on his cane. "Hrmph. He can probably spare a worker or two."

What? Booker is saying you should try to help Auroara? You look back at Booker and he glances at you and then looks away and says "Your three mons might not be enough."

What? Booker is saying you should take a human friend with you?

You can't help looking across the grass at Joe! When you look back at Booker he looks away and says "I think you made the right choice."

"Hey, kid! Keep that Sailater away until we've got everything realigned, will ya?" What? Ben doesn't want Sailater near the balloon?

Joe sees you looking at him! "Are you thinking about helping your friend?"

"Auroara!"

Joe nods. "Auroara." He glances at Ben and smiles. "It seems like they don't need me. Do you want company?"

You're nodding your head!

"What do you think, Sailater?" Joe pats Sailater's snout and it stands up! You look around for your other friends!

"Ramster! Tamounda! Lottatax!"

Lottatax crawls down from the top of the balloon and says "Lottatax!"

Ramster pokes his head out from the back door and says "Ram-ram!"

Tamounda trots out from the other side of the balloon and then looks up at Sailater.

[SFX: growling]

Tamounda runs behind you and says "Tamounda!"

You and your friends walk away from the balloon across the grass toward the huge hole. You can't see the bottom because it's too dark! You put Ramster on your shoulder and start climbing down and look up at Tamounda and Lottatax and then Lottatax scurries down the side past you!

Tamounda peeks over the edge and says "Tamounda!"

[SFX: growling]

Tamounda looks back at Sailater and says "Tamounda!" and starts picking his way down!

"Come on, Sailater! You can do it!"

You look up and see Joe trying to get Sailater to climb down! Joe starts to climb down and looks up. "See? It's easy!"

Sailater peeks over the edge and growls!

Joe climbs down further and Sailater starts to step over the edge to pick its way down!

[SFX: pebble tumbling]

What? Sailater lost its footing? Sailater is stumbling toward you and your friends! Everyone starts running down the side in front of Sailater! When you get to the bottom of the huge hole you all scatter out of the way and Sailater lands on the floor!

[SFX: booming noise, roaring]

Sailater doesn't like it!

What? You just realized you're on the floor of a hallway? This place looks like the place where you found Auroara!

You and your friends walk down the dark hallway. Even though you've been in a place like this before, it's still scary! You're glad Joe is here with you! After a while you see a faint glow ahead and...

"Ram-ram!"

What? Ramster is pointing up at the two hanging glass globes? You look up and see eyes glaring out of the dark at you and then two strange mons that look like gooey black blobs sink down into view!

The strange mons look at each other.

"◑◒◗◔"

"◓◐"

Suddenly their eyes flash and the globes shatter! The strange mons fall on the floor and one of them raises its tendrils!

Tamounda says "Tamounda!" and spins around and slaps his tail against the strange mon and knocks it across the room! As soon as it gets hit you feel lighter again, but then the strange mon sits up right away! It seems like these strange mons are pretty strong!

What? You just remembered you brought Joe and Sailater with you? You grin and look at the doorway!

"Sailater! Attack!"

[SFX: roaring noise]

Sailater charges into the room toward the strange mon in front of it! The strange mon can't believe it!


Sailater attacks with Jaws!


Sailater grabs the strange mon with its jaws and chews it up and then spits it out and sticks out its tongue!

Sailater doesn't like it!

You and your friends all turn and look at the other strange mon!

The other strange mon glares at you and raises its tendrils and a shimmering rainbow light spreads over it!

Sailater can't look away!


What? Sailater has a strange expression on its face? Sailater growls and then turns toward you and your other friends!

Sailater attacks with Fin Slice!


Sailater swings the fin on its back and the shockwave knocks you and your friends across the room! When you look up you see the strange mon raising its tendrils and glaring at you!

The other strange mon melts into a puddle of black tar!

Even though you didn't gain any energy, you still have to help Auroara!

You run forward through the doorway toward the glowing light and suddenly you hear voices! You stop and tip-toe forward and then you and Joe peek around the corner into a huge room and see an enormous glowing shape floating in the middle of the room! It's even bigger than Sailater!

What? You think it looks like the strange glowing square on Ward's head?

The Auraprimas and Auroara are standing with their backs to you! It seems like they don't notice you!

"There has been an intrusion here, Prima."

"A human has been prodding at this captured Vitium, Aura."

"We must destroy it before it fully reawakens, Prima." One of the Auraprimas glances at Auroara and says "Auroara, use your-"

Suddenly the Vitium glows brighter and a line of white light passes over Auroara and the Auraprimas from their heads to their feet! The Auraprimas can't believe it!


Vitium attacks before Auraprima1 was ready!

Vitium is using Replicate!


The line of white light disappears and then a glowing white shape forms in the air in front of one of the Auraprimas and turns into something that looks like a glowing copy of the Auraprima made of light and then a beam of energy shoots out of its hands that looks like the beam of energy that hit Ben's balloon! Another light appears in front of the other Auraprima and in front of Auroara!

The copy of Auroara doesn't look very friendly!


Rep1 attacks with Aura Beam!

It really hurts Auraprima1!

Rep2 attacks with Aura Beam!

It really hurts Auraprima2!

Rep3 attacks with Aurora Pulse!

Auroara can't stand the pain!


The copy of Auroara raises its hands and the same green energy you saw Auroara use the first time you met her shoots out of the copy's hands and hits Auroara! It seems like the copy can use Auroara's strongest attack!

When Auroara lands she slides across the floor and tries to sit up but then she falls over! It looks like Auroara is knocked out! As soon as she falls over the copy disappears!

The Auraprimas can hardly stand!

"Do not falter, Aura!"

"Keep fighting, Prima!"


Rep1 attacks with Aura Beam!

Auraprima1 can't stand the pain!

Rep2 attacks with Aura Beam!

Auraprima2 can't stand the pain!


"Prima!"

"Aura!"

Both Auraprimas are blasted backward across the room and land on the far side of the Vitium! It looks like they're both knocked out!

The copies disappear and then the Vitium shines its light over you and your friends!


Vitium is using Replicate!

Can't use Replicate on new opponents!

What? Nothing happened? For some reason, the Vitium can't use Replicate on you or your other friends!

Sailater glances at Joe and then stomps its feet and charges! You and your other friends have to jump out of the way as Sailater charges past you and bites the Vitium! Even though Sailater is twisting around, the Vitium doesn't move at all! When Sailater's teeth scrape the Vitium the surface begins to spark and then Sailater growls and bites down even harder and the Vitium starts to spark even more!


Vitium is using Shift!


Suddenly the Vitium flashes and Sailater disappears and then reappears upside-down above your head!

"Ram-ram!"

"Tamounda!"

"Lottatax!"

Everyone has to jump out of the way as Sailater lands!

[SFX: roaring noise]

It hurts Sailater!

Joe can't help taking a step forward into the room! "Sailater! Are you alright?"

You look behind you at Joe!

"Joe! Stay away!"

The Vitium is starting to glow even more brightly!

What? You just remembered one of the Auraprimas said the Vitium was waking up? You had better do something quickly!

You look at Ramster!

"Ramster! Horns attack!"

Ramster says "Ram-ram!" and runs toward the Vitium!


Vitium attacks with Strike!

Ramster dodges out of the way!


The Vitium stretches out a ribbon of light at Ramster and strikes the floor over and over but Ramster jumps back and forth around it and then says "Ram-ram!" and jumps at the Vitium! Ramster strikes it with his horns hard enough to make the Vitium tilt sideways a little bit!

When Ramster hits the Vitium it shines its light over you!

You look down at where you think Lottatax is!

"Lottatax! Fangs attack!"

Lottatax says "Lottatax!" and scurries toward the Vitium!

The Vitium strikes out with the ribbon of light toward Lottatax and Lottatax dodges back and forth but then the ribbon of light hits the ground in front of Lottatax and Lottatax gets knocked into the air!

You can't help crying out!

"Lottatax!"

Vitium's not just strong, but it's got a lot of tricks up it's sleeve. To get Auroara out of there we'll need to distract it since it seems like it can just teleport us back it it's mad enough. Ramster and Sailater are strong, so they may be able to keep it's attention. Mashimon is brave and doesn't leave her friends behind so of course she'd stick around too, even if she has to bite.
Joe is a normal human so of course he can't fight, but he can grab Auroara since she and the Auraprimas are out. If we want to be extra nice we can have Tamounda and Lottatax (if conscious) help the twins too.

Just putting that out there for the moment. I want to see what other voters say before rolling.

Every trainer we've met this far doesn't use a specialized device to bond with their monsters, with Joe specifically capturing Sailater with a rope and his nerves. I assume that being able to unlock Mon abilities is something that just happens with time and familiarity. The Cutecaptor apparently fast tracks that, but it also does other stuff we don't want.

Speaking of that, Mon ownership is vague in general. Ramster initially only listened to us as a favor, but he is pretty gung ho about it now, with Tamounda and Lottatax being on board too. I don't think our Cutemon can 'own' other Mons like the humans can, but I'm sure the players consider them as our Mons, and there is some bond there.

I think Plumtree is probably a pretty decent guy, if a little bit obsessed/autistic. Ginger and her friend are the ones I'm worried about (Ward warned us about her specifically).

When your eyes adjust from the light you look around and see Lottatax lying on the floor on the other side of Sailater! Lottatax pushes itself to its feet and says "Lotta..." It looks like Lottatax can hardly stand!

Joe stands in the doorway and says "Sailater! Try using your Fin Slice attack!" Sailater glances back at Joe and then dips sideways and swings the fin on its back toward the Vitium and the shockwave hits it so hard that the Vitium gets knocked sideways a little bit!

I'm playing it up of course, an inanimate object acting as a villain is funny to me. Our choices are pretty slim though, and someone would absolutely have to stay behind to let anyone escape, but the prose implies even that may not pan out. "Ram-ram!" You and Sailater both get knocked above the surface when Ramster strikes the Vitium from underneath!

"Ah-ah-ax!" It sounds like Lottatax is trying to bite the Vitium!

"Tamounda!" What Tamounda is even here? You feel a thump shake the Vitium! It seems like Tamounda is using his Tail attack!


Vitium is using Shift!


You open your eyes and see Sailater disappear and reappear across the room but Sailater stomps its feet and charges back toward the Vitium and jumps at it and locks its jaws around the edge of the Vitium again!

Suddenly Tamounda appears in the air in front of Vitium!

Look out, Tamounda!


Tamounda attacks before Vitium was ready!

What? You just noticed Joe running past the Vitium? You jump off the Vitium onto the floor and see Joe crouch down and pick up Auroara with both arms!

What? Now you have a different strange feeling in your chest? For some reason, you don't like seeing Joe holding Auroara in his arms!

Ramster shouts "Ram-ram!" You look over your shoulder and see the Auraprimas are waking up! As soon as the Auraprimas wake up they leap to their feet! One of them looks at the Vitium and says "These humans and their mons have defeated the Vitium, Prima."

The other Auraprima glances at you and says "That one is not a human, Aura."

Both of the Auraprimas are looking at you!

"Come on, this way!" You and the Auraprimas look at Joe standing in the doorway holding Auroara! It seems like you had better run away from here!

"Put me down, please!"

It seems like Auroara is awake!

"Ram-ram!" You look down and see Ramster holding your baseball cap! You put it on!

[SFX: growling]

What? Sailater is looking at you and crouching down? It seems like Sailater wants you to get on top of it! You and your friends all climb onto Sailater and Sailater stomps its feet and charges out of the room and down the hallway!

When you get to the hole where you came in, you start climbing up the side!

[SFX: growling]

"Come on, Sailater! You can do it!" Joe is trying to help Sailater but it can't climb up the side!

The Auraprimas look back at Joe and one of them says "This mon is important to you?"

Joe nods and the Auraprimas look at each other and then they both grab Sailater and start to float into the air! It seems like they're trying to carry Sailater out of the hole even though they don't have much energy! The Auraprimas start to float higher and then Sailater's tail lifts off the ground and they float up to the ground at the top!

"Hey, we fixed the problem!" When you climb over the edge of the hole you see Starr waving at you!

Everyone runs across the grass toward the balloon! When you get close Joe shouts "Get the motor going!"

Starr looks at Joe and then turns and shouts "Dad!" and runs back toward the balloon!

You can hear the Vitium! It's still getting louder!

Suddenly the ground behind you collapses! You all jump into the door of the balloon and land just in time! The balloon sinks down a little because the ground under it is gone!

When you look out the back window of the balloon it looks like all the ground around you just disappeared!

One of the Auraprimas looks at Joe and says "The Vitium usually removes the local environment when destroyed."

The other Auraprima says "It is fortunate for that mon that we recovered in time, Prima."

"It is fortunate for us that this human and his mons were able to defeat the Vitium, Aura."

Joe looks back at the Auraprima. "Removed?"

The balloon floats up into the sky and when you look away from the window Joe is standing next to you!

You can't help your cheeks turning red! Even though you want to look away, you can't help looking at him!

"Here, I think you dropped this." Joe reaches into his jacket pocket and takes out the cutécaptor but when he holds it out to you and you touch it, you suddenly get a strange feeling in your chest! It seems like it feels better when Joe holds the cutécaptor! You look up at Joe and shake your head!

"You hold it!"

Joe looks at you and you nod your head right away and he puts it back in his jacket pocket! "When Sailater and I get back to Rust City, you can-"

"What do you know of Tower Four, human?" What? One of the Auraprimas is looking at Joe?

The other Auraprima looks at Joe. "Do you know who awakened that Vitium, human?"

You shift your stance and move a little closer to Joe!

Joe looks at the Auraprimas and says "Tower Four? Wasn't that..." and then glances at Auroara.

"These humans don't know anything about that." Auroara looks at the Auraprimas and shakes her head. "They only know it as ruins. And I only woke up a few weeks ago."

One of the Auraprimas nods. "As did Prima and I."

What? You just remembered Professor Ginger was digging for something near the ruins? It seems like Springblok might know more about what happened underneath Tower Four and why the Vitium woke up!

What? You think it might be a good idea to ask Ward about the strange glowing square on his head that looks like the Vitium?

It seems like you should go to Copper Citadel and help the Auraprimas find out more about what happened to wake everyone up or maybe go back to Bronze Valley and ask Ward about the Vitium but all you really want to do is be near Joe! Is this what human girls feel like all the time?

What? You just remembered Joe captured you with the cutécaptor? You look around and look out the back window of the balloon and then you notice Auroara looking at the fangs on your head! It's because they're still sticking out all the way!

"You're full of surprises, little mon. Try slowing your breathing." What? Auroara is giving you advice? You don't know why! You look at Auroara and she nods and steps a little closer and quietly says "It helps to bring yourself back under control if your abilities are... overwhelming."

You look at Auroara for a moment and then nod and take a deep breath and hold it in!

Auroara looks at you and says "Breathe."

You let out your breath and then take another breath and let it out! Auroara smiles at you and nods and you take another breath and let it out and then smile at Auroara!

What? Auroara is looking at the fangs on the side of your head? You reach up and touch them but you can hardly feel them! It seems like they shrank back down now that you're calmed down!

I'm not sure if this is a good idea. On one hand, his Sailater is good muscle. On the other, this is erratic behavior on Mashimon's part that could spiral out of control. We could try to ask for the captor back before we decide whether she should stick with Joe.

I don't think Mashimon's lost it completely, but she is acting funky. I agree with the sentiment about not wanting the girl to be a pet, but I doubt we would have gotten off easy if we chose the same option thrice.

Joe's first act after all that was to try and give the Cutecaptor back, so we can rely on him being sympathetic to our plight. Ginger may be trying to subvert the Cutecaptor just to get at Plumtree, but she's also doing a bunch of stuff that's not just shady but dangerous if Vitium is anything to go by.

Auroara puts on her new hat and nods at them. "It really is a good idea."

Suddenly Psyotee runs past you up into the back of the balloon and licks Tamounda!

Tamounda says "Tamounda!" and then licks Psyotee!

[SFX: door opening]

The door of the gas station opens and Joe's mother Jennifer comes out and sees everyone! "Oh, what a crowd!" She takes Booker's arm and says "Here, let me find you a place to lie down."

Torrentani says "TANI!" and flies after Jennifer and Booker!

Jennifer comes back out just as Ben walks out of the balloon. What? Ben is looking at Jennifer? Ben smiles and says "Why, Mrs. Apple, I've been seeing you so often lately, I might have to make Patina a regular stop."

Jennifer laughs and says "Call me Jennifer."

"Uh, mom!" What? Joe's cheeks are turning red? "Thanks for letting me borrow your motorcycle!"

[SFX: giggling]

You look over your shoulder and see Auroara and the Auraprimas crouching down behind Ramster! It looks like Ramster is showing them how to play the video game!

What? You just remembered you thought they should meet Springblok? You look at Joe and he's already looking at you! "Is there something you want?"

Joe looks at you and asks "You mean you want to go there?"

You're nodding your head!

Jane looks up at Mashi and Volito and says "You must be Mashi."

When Jane speaks, Mashi looks up at her and says "Yeah!"

"My name is Jane. This is your Volito, right?"

"Yeah!" Mashi glances at Volito and looks down at the floor. "I mean, he used to belong to my grandfather, but..."

"The last time your friends stayed at our place, your Volito really enjoyed our mom's cooking. Didn't you, Volito?"

Volito floats toward Jane and says "VO-LITO!"

"Wow, he really likes you!" Mashi climbs up onto a chair next to Jane and watches as Volito sinks down into Jane's lap and closes his eyes! "He usually doesn't want anyone else to hold him!"

Jane looks down at her lap and gently strokes Volito's head and smiles. "It's because he knows he's safe as long as he's in my lap. Isn't that right, Volito?"

Volito opens his mouth and says "Vo..." and then closes his mouth again! It seems like Volito is falling asleep in Jane's lap! He looks pretty comfortable!

Jane glances at you and then looks at Mashi. "Joe told me your friend was using your name while she was trying to help you. You're lucky to have such good friends."

Mashi can't believe it! She looks at you and then looks at Joe and Joe nods his head and Mashi grins at you!

After a while Jennifer starts bringing a lot of food out of the kitchen and everyone gathers around the table! It smells delicious!

"Waddabeah!"

"Lottatax!"

[SFX: growling noise]

Sailater sticks its snout through the window and Jennifer picks up a big bowl and walks toward the window. "Don't think I forgot about you, Sailater!" Jennifer scoops a big spoonful into Sailater's mouth!

Sailater likes it!

The next morning, Jennifer makes everyone breakfast and then Joe hugs Jennifer and looks at you. "Ready?"

You're nodding your head!

Ben starts the balloon motor and Joe and Sailater and you and Ramster and Tamounda and Lottatax and Auroara and the Auraprimas all climb into the balloon and wave at your friends as you float up into the air.

Skowl flaps its stubby wings and says "Skowooo!"

"Thank you very much, Mr. Currant. We really appreciate this." Joe looks at you and says "Now where?"

You look at Tamounda!

Tamounda looks up at you and says "Tamounda?" When you nod your head Tamounda says "Tamounda!" and starts to trot away from the airport!

Suddenly Auroara steps in front of the screen. "You said he would help us."

"You... you're an Auroara!" Springblok can't believe it! He looks at the Auraprimas and leans closer to the screen. "And you two... You're each too tall to be a Rori, so you must be Auraprimas."

The Auraprimas glance at each other. "Impressive, Prima."

"This mon is quite intelligent, Aura."

Springblok looks between Auroara and the two Auraprimas. "Perhaps I erred in sending your companions away." Suddenly the elevator door slides open! It looks like you and your friends get to go up to the top of the laboratory tower!

Everyone else walks inside the elevator but when Sailater sticks its head inside and tries to squeeze through the doorway it can't go any further!

[SFX: thumping noise]

It seems like Sailater will have to stay outside!

[SFX: growling]

Sailater doesn't like it!

You look around at the courtyard of Professor Ginger's laboratory tower. Even though you can see the street from here, it seems like no humans will bother Sailater as long as Sailater stays in the courtyard! When you look at Joe you see Joe already looking at Sailater! It seems like Joe had the same idea!

What? You just realized you're very lucky Joe is so smart? He really is a good mon trainer!

Joe pats Sailater's snout. "Don't worry, Sailater. We'll come back as soon as we can. Just stay here for now and don't go anywhere, alright?"

Sailater glances at Joe and then sinks down on the ground and tucks its legs underneath it and looks at you and your other friends and then puts its chin down on the ground! It seems like Sailater is going to wait here until you come back outside!

When you and your friends get out of the elevator, Springblok is waiting for you! "Professor Ginger isn't here, but if she were, she would certainly be interested in the three of you. She's spent a great deal of time chasing down rumors of your remains. I don't think she expected to see one of you in this state, much less three."

"Why?"

You meant to say that out loud! Suddenly Springblok and the others look at you but then Springblok takes a step forward between you and Auroara and looks at the Auraprimas. "You'll have to excuse that Cutémon. Her MIND stat is quite low."

"Why search?"

You shout so loudly that Springblok has to look at you! When he does, you point at Auroara and then at the Auraprimas!

"Auroara! Auraprimas! Vitium!"

You give Springblok a determined look!

"Ward!"

Springblok looks at you. "Ward?"

What? Springblok doesn't know who Ward is? It seems like he should know, because they both know Professor Ginger!

What? You just remembered Ward told you he used to be called a different name? Do you remember the name Ward told you?

"Psykid!"

"Psykid..." Springblok looks at the Auraprimas. "You found the Vitium Professor Ginger was examining?"

One of the Auraprimas says "Oh, yes, we found it, mon."

The other Auraprima says "What was your master hoping to learn from this examination, mon?"

Springblok can't help taking a step backward! He glances between you and the Auraprimas and says "I think I can answer both your questions." Springblok looks at a computer terminal and says "Computer, research entries for Psykid."

Suddenly you hear Professor Ginger's voice!


"Ginger field log, day one. Have arrived at train station in town of Cape Smelt. Locals confirm rare sightings in area possibly matching description of psychic-type mon Psykid."

"Ginger field log, day fourteen. Have sighted numerous other mons. Believe Psykid may possess Evade ability. If so, may have already encountered and am unaware."

"Ginger field log, day thirty. Have discovered tracks matching description of Psykid. Will begin making field preparations for capture."

"Ginger field log, day one hundred forty-nine. Have captured Psykid. Sidenote: my enhancement seems sufficient to block Psykid's telepathy."

"Ginger laboratory results, subject: Psykid. Have confirmed subject possesses Evade ability. Subject became impossible to observe both mechanically and visually, but was unable to escape containment. Was later able to observe subject, after subject could no longer maintain Evade."

Springblok tries to take a step back but your hair wraps around his legs and he falls backward and lands on the floor! Springblok struggles but he can't move, no matter how hard he tries! Suddenly you lean back and open your mouth and Springblok sees your sharp teeth!

"You hurt Ward!"

"No! I helped him!"

You give Springblok an angry look!

"Springblok!"

Springblok is shaking his head! "It's the truth! Professor Ginger and I both thought he was dead. All her equipment said he was dead. But somehow he managed to claw his way back. When I saw he had started passively accumulating energy again, I hid him away far away from here. I didn't know if he would..." Springblok looks away and then looks at you. "I won't fight if you want to kill me."

What? Springblok thinks you want to kill him? You don't want to do that at all!

Suddenly your hair relaxes and releases Springblok and you throw your arms around his neck and close your eyes and hug him!

"Oh, Springblok!"

What? Something is wrapping around your shoulders? It feels like Springblok is hugging you back with his long ears! You look up at Springblok!

"Thank you!"

When you let go of Springblok and stand up you feel a lot better! Springblok stands up and looks at your baseball cap on the floor and when you pick it up you see Joe standing next to you! Joe looks at Springblok and asks "That Vitium... why would Professor Ginger want to have anything to do with that?"

Springblok is looking at you! "Who is this human boy?"

You glance at Joe and smile at Springblok!

"This is Joe!"

Springblok looks at Joe and asks "Joe Apple from Patina?"

Joe is nodding his head!

"I've read your letters." Springblok looks away and says "A Vitium is not like any of the other alien-type mons. It makes some things possible that would not otherwise be so. After Professor Ginger grafted the Vitium to herself, she began altering herself in other ways. The battle between her and the Psykid... Ward... it almost destroyed this tower."

Joe is shaking his head! "What I mean is, why would Professor Ginger want to do that in the first place? I've read both her books and they're all about how to train mons by teaching them."

Springblok looks back at Joe. "Professor Ginger tells her colleagues she's only trying to improve her instruction-based methods, but that's just an act. I sometimes think she considers me a failure."

What? Springblok is saying Professor Ginger doesn't think Springblok is smart enough, even though Springblok can say so many words at the same time?

The Auraprimas glance at each other and look at Springblok. "Your master will learn nothing from us, mon."

"A human who conspires with the enemy is no longer under our protection."

"Do not mince words, Aura. This Professor Ginger is now our enemy."

"Please, no!" Springblok takes a step backward and looks around at you and your friends. "I've known Professor Ginger since she was a child. She wasn't always like this. It's the Vitium. It's... done something to her."

What? You just noticed Springblok is looking at an open book? It looks like there are lots of pictures of young humans on the page!

What? You think one of the pictures looks like Professor Ginger? It seems like Springblok really did know Professor Ginger when she was young!

Springblok sees you looking at the book and flicks the book cover closed with one ear and then stands back up all the way and looks at you. "Do you have anything else to demand, Cutémon?"

What? You just remembered Professor Ginger found something called data inside the cutécaptor? It seems like that might help her build her own cutécaptor!

You give Springblok a determined look!

"Cutécaptor data!"

Springblok looks at the computer terminal and then glances at you and says "I don't know how I'm going to explain this..." and then looks at the computer terminal again. "Computer, delete all data regarding the Cutécaptor." Springblok looks back at you and says "Now, if there's nothing else, I'll see you out."

Suddenly the Auraprimas both take a step forward toward Springblok!

"It was your mistake to allow us into this stronghold, mon."

"We will meet this Professor Ginger and she will answer to us."

Springblok looks between the two Auraprimas and says "I really don't think that's a good idea."

What? You just remembered you know a human man named Phil who works at the Copper Citadel Arena?

What? You just remembered there's a feral mon lair near the Copper Citadel Arena? Do you think Smellapath will let Joe stay with them?

Auroara puts a hand over her mouth! "In this time, another method is used." What? Auroara is grinning at you? It seems like the Auraprimas will have to learn how mons gain energy by fighting other mons!

You grin at Auroara!

"Feral mon lair!"

Tamounda perks up and says "Tamounda!"

Joe is looking at you! "Feral mon lair?"

"It's a rather exclusive group, I'm afraid." Springblok shakes his head and says "They might consider you an intruder. And you really can't stay here. I wouldn't want to have to explain your presence if Professor Ginger returned early."

"That's alright. I wanted to take Sailater to the Copper Citadel Arena." Joe looks at you and asks "Will you meet me at the arena when you're ready?"

You're nodding your head!

Joe looks at Springblok and says "It was nice to meet you, Springblok."

"And you as well, Mr. Apple."

When you all get downstairs Sailater stands up and you look at Tamounda.

"Copper Citadel Arena?"

Tamounda says "Tamounda!" and starts trotting out of the courtyard! You all follow Tamounda and... What? A lot of humans are looking at Sailater? It's probably because Sailater is so big!

When you get to the Copper Citadel Arena, Joe looks at you and waves and says "Come on, Sailater!"

You follow Joe and suddenly Auroara says "Where are you going?"

What? You were following Joe even though you wanted to go to the feral mon lair? It seems like you really want to be near Joe all the time! You can't help your cheeks turning red and then you run back toward Auroara and your other friends!

When you get to the ditch near the arena you climb into the big pipe and start crawling down it. What? You just realized Sailater is too big to fit in the pipe? It's a good thing Joe took Sailater with him!

After a little while you see light ahead and then you climb out of the pipe into the feral mon lair! Some other mons are gathered near the entrance. It looks like there's a Shrubbear, and a Gumdroop, and...

"Ori-gamey!"

What? Origamey is here? You look up and Origamey flutters down and lands on a pile of rubble and glares at you! He's probably still upset because you beat him up!

"Shrubbarrr!"

"Gumdroop!"

What? Origamey, Shrubbear, and Gumdroop are all looking at Tamounda?

Tamounda hides behind your legs and peeks out and says "Tamounda!"

You look back at Tamounda and he takes a step back and looks up at you! It seems like he doesn't want to go past the other mons!

Gumdroop's surface starts to ripple and then it stretches out and becomes rounder and bigger! What? You think it sort of looks like Tamounda? It seems like Gumdroop can change its shape to look like other mons! Suddenly Gumdroop runs and hides behind Shrubbear and says "Gumdroop!"

"Shrubbarrr-arrr-arrr!"

"Ori-gamey-ey-ey!"

The other mons are laughing even harder now! It seems like they're making fun of Tamounda for being afraid!

You turn around and give Tamounda a determined look!

"Tamounda is brave!"

Tamounda looks up at you and then looks at the other mons and takes another step back and puts his head down and looks away and says "Tamounda."

You crouch down in front of Tamounda!

"Tamounda is strong!"

What? Tamounda isn't even looking at you? He's still looking away!

Ramster hops down and stands in front of Tamounda and says "Ram-ram!" and then turns and looks up at the other mons and says "Ram-ram!"

Lottatax scurries next to Ramster and sticks out its head spikes and says "Lottatax!" and then turns and looks up at the other mons and flattens its head spikes back and says "Lottatax!"

You stand up and face the other mons but before you can say anything Shrubbear starts laughing! "Shrubbarrr-arrr-arrr!"

What? Shrubbear sees something funny? You all turn and see Tamounda was trying to sneak away while no one was looking at him! When you crouch down in front of Tamounda again, you-

"Enough of this. Move aside." You look over your shoulder and see Auroara walking toward the other mons but then Shrubbear take a step sideways in front of the entrance!

Shrubbear looks down at Auroara and then looks at you and Tamounda and says "Shrubbarrr!" It seems like they don't want you to come in because you're friends with Tamounda!

"Do not try our patience, mon." Auroara takes another step forward and Shrubbear swipes his paw at her!

Look out, Auroara!


Shrubbear attacks with Brush-Off!


Shrubbear hits Auroara with his paw and Auroara falls backward onto the floor!

Tamounda can't believe it! Suddenly Tamounda leaps up and says "Tamounda!" and charges past you toward Shrubbear!

Shrubbear stands up all the way and looks down at Tamounda and Tamounda skids to a stop in front of him! When Tamounda looks up at him, Shrubbear glares down at Tamounda and says "Shrubbarrr!"

Tamounda sticks out his tongue and licks Shrubbear!

Shrubbear can't believe it! "Shrubbarrr!"

Tamounda says "Tamounda!" and slaps Shrubbear with his tail and knocks Shrubbear over! It looks like Shrubbear is still too disgusted to move! He's just lying on his side shivering!

Tamounda spins around and glares at Gumdroop and Origamey and says "Tamounda!"

Origamey says "Ori-gamey!" and flutters away so quickly that he leaves a trail of paper scraps behind him!

Gumdroop looks around and then sinks down into a puddle and looks up at Tamounda and smiles and says "Gumdroop?"

...


Gumdroop is fleeing the fight!


Suddenly Gumdroop turns around and tries to slide away but then it bounces off Auroara's feet! Gumdroop looks up at Auroara and Auroara looks down at it and then grabs it and holds it up in front of her!

When Auroara glares at Gumdroop, it sags and smiles up at her and says "Gumdroop?"

"Finish what you started." Auroara glances at Tamounda and then tosses Gumdroop toward him!

Tamounda says "Tamounda!" and spins around and slaps Gumdroop with his tail! Gumdroop goes flying through the air and splats against the wall above Shrubbear!

What? Shrubbear is starting to recover? Just as Shrubbear sits up, Gumdroop peels backward off the wall and flops onto Shrubbear's face!

Tamounda looks up at Auroara and says "Tamounda?"

Auroara nods at him. "I'm uninjured. Thank you, Tamounda."

Tamounda says "Tamounda!" and licks Auroara and then spins around and trots through the entrance ahead of everyone else with his nose pointed up! It seems like he's pretty pleased with himself!

When you walk through the entrance you can see the glow from all the hanging blue lights and you see Smellapath floating in the middle of the huge room! When you look up at Smellapath he looks down at you.

"I am happy you have returned to us. I am also happy you have learned so much about the world."

When the Auraprimas walk into the huge room Smellapath looks past you at them.

"It seems you have found many friends since then. It is good to have many friends."

What? You just noticed the Auraprimas are looking up at all the hanging blue lights?

The Auraprimas both look away from the hanging blue lights at Smellapath and one of them says "Those are condensers, Prima."

"Where did you acquire them, mon?" What? The Auraprimas just called the hanging blue lights condensers? You don't know what that means!

"They are not only lights. They collect spilled energy from the arena above us and focus the energy down to those below."

What? Smellapath is saying the hanging blue lights collect energy from the mons fighting in the arena?

"Yes. We have been gathering them here for a very long time."

The Auraprimas glance at the condensers again and then look at Auroara. "They are not as efficient as an accretion slab."

"What is the method used to regain energy in this time, Auroara?"

[SFX: muffled roaring]

What? You just remembered Joe and Sailater are in the arena above you?

"I will soon instruct you both." Auroara glances at you and looks around the huge room and then looks at the Auraprimas and says "We will require the assistance of some fellow... um, some mons."

Tamounda says "Tamounda!" and hides behind you and peeks out at Auroara! It seems like he doesn't want to get poked by any more horns!

The Auraprimas look around at the huge room and one of them asks Smellapath "What is this place, mon?"

"Some kind of prison?"

"This was once the mon pens of the Copper Citadel Arena. But it is our home now. It has been our home for a long time. The humans do not even remember it is here."

One of the Auraprimas glances up and says "Yes, it certainly is... old."

The other Auraprima looks at Auroara and says "You were about to explain the method of regaining energy."

"Um." Auroara looks around and sees Tamounda and Tamounda hides behind you again! Auroara looks at the Auraprimas and says "As I recall, you can use Aura Beam, and together you can use Dissolution, correct?"

The Auraprimas glance at each other and then one of them looks at Auroara and says "I don't have enough energy to use either of those."

"I don't even have enough energy to use E-Arc, Prima."

Auroara shifts her stance and crosses her arms in front of her and grins at the Auraprimas. "But you have a Horns attack."

The Auraprimas can't believe it! "You really expect us to-"

"I thought an Auroara would have more tact than to-"

"Auraprima, use Horns!"

You meant to say that out loud! The Auraprimas both turn their heads and glare at you and one of them says "Who does this mon think it is, Aura?"

"It has yet to learn its place, Prima."

You can't help looking at Auroara and... What? Auroara is grinning at you? She glances at the Auraprimas and says "It seems you're the first volunteer, little mon."

You look down at Tamounda and he backs up a step and says "Tamounda!"

When you look up Auroara she glances at you and looks at the Auraprimas and one of them says "What am I expected to do with this mon, Aura?"

"It seems you are to fight it, Prima."

What? Prima is really going to challenge you? At least you know which one she is! Prima looks at Auroara and says "I told you I don't have enough energy to use E-Arc."

Auroara nods. "You don't need any energy to use Horns."

Prima can't help reaching up and touching her horns and looking at Aura! When Aura nods, Prima shifts her stance and glares at you. "Very well. Prepare yourself, mon."

What? You just realized Joe and Sailater might be fighting a match in the arena at the same time you're fighting Prima? You glance up at the ceiling and-

You can't help crying out and falling backward! When one of Prima's horns poked you in the stomach, it hurt more because you weren't expecting it!

When you open your eyes Lottatax is in front of your face! Lottatax tilts its head and says "Lottatax?"

"Ram-ram!"

"Tamounda!"

You look up and see Ramster and Tamounda looking at you and when you look up at Prima you see she's standing up all the way and smiling!

Prima can't believe it! "Aura! This is... it's unlike... you wouldn't..." Suddenly Prima stops and looks around and then looks at you and says "It seems like that mon may be out of action."

"Never mind that one, Prima." Aura looks around. "Where's the big green mon that blocked Auroara's way?"

The Auraprimas walk past Auroara and then Auroara looks at you and says "You are more unfocused than usual." Tamounda pushes his head under you to help you up and when you stand up and let go of Tamounda you see Auroara looking at your stomach. "Are you injured?"

You reach down and touch your stomach and flinch and then shake your head.

"It hurts!"

"It wouldn't hurt as much if you'd been prepared for it." Auroara crosses her arms and says "I think it's time you told me what happened when we fought the Vitium."

You can't help your cheeks turning red! You look away from Auroara but when you glance back at her Auroara says "You know what I'm talking about. Your fangs. And your hair. And that human, Joe. This has something to do with that pink ball, doesn't it?"

What? Auroara is asking about the cutécaptor? You can't help looking away!

When you glance back Auroara is still looking at you! "I saw how you were fixated upon that ball. It seemed to be your most guarded treasure. And now Joe has it."

You don't know what to say! You can't help looking away again!

"Joe has become your trainer somehow." What? Auroara figured all that out? It's a good thing you're looking away so she can't see how wide your eyes are! "You don't think I understand, but I do." When you glance back at Auroara she nods her head. "When I was first made, there was a human. He was called Overseer. He was not unlike your Joe. He was tall, and brave, and..."

You turn your head and look at Auroara all the way and she takes off her hat and looks at you. "His name was Kinsen."

"Kinsen?"

You didn't mean to say that out loud but Auroara nods and stands up all the way and takes a deep breath and looks at you. "My fixation was only broken by his death. Is that what you want for Joe?"

What? Auroara is asking if you want Joe to die? You're shaking your head!

"No!"

Auroara takes a step closer! You can't help taking a step back! "Then you must act, even if it seems impossible to put your feelings into words." Auroara grins at you and says "I can't have my friend being poked in the stomach all the time."

What? Auroara just called you her friend?

What? Auroara is hugging you back? You didn't expect that! You keep hugging Auroara as tightly as you can and Auroara looks at you. "Now, this pink ball."

"Cutécaptor!"

Auroara nods her head and puts on her hat. "Then we will speak to Joe about this cutécaptor." She looks at Tamounda, Lottatax, and Ramster. "Together."

"You are leaving?"

What? Smellapath is here? You didn't know he was here because he doesn't make any noise! You look up and nod.

"We'll come back!"

You and your friends climb out into the ditch near the Copper Citadel Arena and walk toward the front doors. The human guards look at you and one of them says "Hey, I remember you."

What? The human guard knows who you are?

"You're that kid who lost in the first round. Looks like you've got a third mon." It seems like the guards don't know who you really are!

When you walk through the arena you see Sailater on the arena floor with some humans talking and pointing. It seems like they're really impressed with Sailater! You see Joe standing near the other humans and he looks at you and smiles and walks toward you!

"Remember to breathe." You look at Auroara and she looks at Joe. "There is a matter to discuss." Auroara glances at you and looks at Joe and points at his jacket pocket. "That cutécaptor."

"Um..." Joe reaches toward his pocket. "I don't know if that Vitium could have been defeated without..." Joe looks at you. "My friend."

"That point has passed. She can't concentrate. It seems like her mind is always on one thing." Auroara crosses her arms and looks at Joe. "It was on the cutécaptor but now it is on something else."

Joe has a strange expression on his face!

Auroara raises one finger and says "It is affecting her ability to fight. She can hardly-"

"Um..." Joe glances down and looks at you. "Do you want to take a walk?"

What? Joe is asking you to take a walk with him? You've never taken a walk with a human boy before! You look at Auroara and she nods, and then you and Ramster and Tamounda and...

What? Auroara is gesturing at all of your other friends to stay back? It seems like you and Joe are going to take a walk by yourselves!

You and Joe walk through the arena and when you stop at a bench for a moment Joe looks at you. "Do you regret asking me to capture you? I mean, with the cutécaptor?"

You don't know what to say! It seems like you like it but you also don't like it!

...

You had better say something!

You look at Joe!

"Good and bad."

Joe looks away for a moment and then looks at you again. "What do you think of me?"

You can't help smiling!

"Good and good!"

Joe can't help smiling!

[SFX: noise]

You look back over your shoulder and see Auroara, Ramster, Tamounda, Lottatax, and Sailater peeking at you and Joe from the doorway! When you see them peeking at you, they all hide out of sight!

You look at Joe for a moment and then turn your head forward and you and Joe sit together quietly.

It seems like it's nice to sit quietly sometimes!

After a few moments Joe turns his head toward you. "I'm glad Auroara told me something was bothering you." When you look up at Joe he says "I've felt strange ever since I used the cutécaptor. Professor Plumtree told me there would be a mental connection between the human and the Cutémon, but-" Joe looks away and then looks back at you. "Even though I grew up with Psyotee, this is different. I don't hear your thoughts like Psyotee. And it's not like it is with Sailater, either." Joe looks down and looks back up at you. "What do you think?"

You look forward for a moment and then look down at your jacket pocket.

"Wild Cutémon better."

Suddenly you look up at Joe!

"Please smash it!"

What? You just noticed Joe looked away with a strange expression on his face? It looks like he's upset! You lean forward so you can see his face!

"Joe?"

"I didn't want you to get hurt by the Vitium." Joe looks at you and says "I didn't know all this would happen." It seems like Joe really is upset! He looks away again and says "I read Professor Plumtree's article about the cutécaptor. I don't think it's easy to break. It's the same types of metal the ancient humans used."

What? You just remembered the huge buildings made by ancient humans are thousands of years old? You don't want the cutécaptor to be around for that long!

"I was thinking, there might be a way to turn it off somehow." When you look at Joe he grins at you. "And if we stay friends long enough, you might unlock those abilities on your own."

It seems like Joe really is a good friend! You can't help smiling!

"Thank you, Joe!"

"I need to stay here with Sailater for a little while longer. I should be done in about an hour." Joe glances back at the doorway behind you and asks "Will you and Auroara and your other friends come back then?"

[SFX: noise]

What? Joe knew Auroara and your other friends were peeking from around the doorway? You look up at Joe and grin at him and nod.

When you walk out the doorway Auroara and your other friends are waiting for you! Auroara grins at you and asks "Well? Did you tell him everything you wanted to say to him?"

You nod your head!

You walk out of the arena and toward the ditch, and then down into the ditch and...

"I thought I would see you again."

What? You recognize that voice?

It's Professor Plumtree!

You can't help taking a step backward!

Ramster hops off your shoulder and looks up at Professor Plumtree and says "Ram-ram!"

Auroara looks at Ramster and then looks at Professor Plumtree and shifts her stance! "Identify yourself!"

Professor Plumtree glances at Auroara and then looks around at the ditch. "No pockets. Then Joe Apple likely still has the cutécaptor." He turns his head to look at you and says "Strange, you shouldn't be able to stray so far from the cutécaptor's owner. I assumed having Onlion track you here would be sufficient."

"Ram-ram!" What? Ramster sees something? You look behind you and see Lottatax flatten its head spikes and back away from the big pipe opening and then you see Onlion slink out from the shadow of the big pipe opening into the light!

Tamounda says "Tamounda!" and hides behind your leg!

Lottatax backs up all the way until it bumps into you and then it scurries up your leg and peeks over your shoulder at Onlion and says "Lottatax!"

Professor Plumtree looks around the ditch again and then sees the Copper Citadel Arena and smiles! "Of course. Where else would the boy be?" Professor Plumtree glances at Onlion and says "Onlion, retrieve the cutécaptor from Joe Apple inside that arena."

Onlion crouches down and gets ready to jump out of the ditch!

Suddenly Onlion's jaws open all the way and a huge beam of energy blasts out! You try to dodge out of the way but it knocks you down!

Lottatax scurries past you and says "Lottatax!" and runs toward Onlion!

Professor Plumtree looks at Auroara and says "Interesting, a second human-type mon. The cutécaptor only has room for one, but I'm sure we can find suitable means of transport."

Auroara can't believe it! "Approach me at your own peril, human!" Professor Plumtree can't help taking a step back!

Professor Plumtree takes another step back!

What? Professor Plumtree is taking another few steps back and reaching into the pocket of his lab coat? He takes out a little metal canister and opens it and suddenly a purple cloud starts coming out of the canister!

It's a Mini Sleep Bomb! He throws the mini sleep bomb toward you and your friends and then reaches into his pocket and pulls out a bunch of mini sleep bombs and starts tossing them toward you!

"What are-" Auroara looks up at the purple cloud from the mini sleep bombs and starts coughing! It seems like she's never seen a sleep bomb before!

[SFX: coughing]

It sounds like Ramster is coughing because of the purple cloud! Ramster walks out of the purple cloud and looks around and says "Ram-ram..." and then shakes his head!

You look at Auroara and she sways and has to take a step sideways to keep her balance!

When the breeze moves the purple cloud away from Onlion you see it isn't sleepy at all!

What? You just remembered Onlion is a mechanical-type mon?


Onlion is building up a charge...

When you look around at all your friends you seen them getting sleepy! It seems like you might need help from the Auraprimas! You glance at the big pipe opening and-

"Is there something special in that pipe?" What? Professor Plumtree is looking at the entrance to the feral mon lair? You look away from the big pipe as quickly as you can!

Auroara glares at Professor Plumtree and says "I might as well use my abilities openly now." Auroara reaches up and takes off her hat and charges at Onlion!


Auroara attacks with Horns!

It hurts Onlion!

Onlion attacks with Megabite!

Auroara dodges out of the way!

Onlion is building up a charge...

"Oh, no you don't."

Auroara is using E-Drain!


Onlion takes a step back and then turns around and lunges at you!

Look out!


Lottatax attacks before Onlion was ready!

Lottatax attacks with Tongue!


Onlion flies toward you with its jaws wide open but just as it's about to bite you it suddenly stops in midair because Lottatax's tongue is stuck to its back! Onlion turns around to bite Lottatax and-

Tamounda attacks before Onlion was ready!

What? Tamounda is here?


Tamounda attacks with Tail!

It really hurts Onlion!


Tamounda's tail hits Onlion so hard that Onlion gets knocked into the air and lands near Professor Plumtree!

You scramble to your feet and shift your stance and glare at Professor Plumtree and see him reaching into his pocket again! Professor Plumtree pulls out another mini sleep bomb and opens it and tosses it at you and then starts running toward the arena!

As soon as the sleep bomb lands you jump over the purple cloud and see Professor Plumtree standing in front of a human boy wearing a lab coat and vest! It's Professor Bean!

You don't know why but Professor Bean is standing in Professor Plumtree's way!

What? You just noticed there's a mechanical-type mon that looks like a little cat next to Professor Bean? You don't know what it's called!

Professor Bean glances at Auroara and looks up at Professor Plumtree. "Excuse me, Professor, but that Auroara is my patient."

You put your baseball cap back on as quickly as you can before Professor Bean sees you!

Professor Plumtree looks down at Professor Bean and the little mechanical-type mon and says "A little far from home, aren't you, boy?"

The little mechanical-type mon shifts its stance and looks up at Professor Plumtree and says "Pakitt!"

"My Pakitt detected a huge disturbance forming directly above Copper Citadel. I, um, thought it would be prudent to observe in person."

[SFX: growling]

Professor Plumtree opens his mouth to speak when everyone hears a loud growling! You look up and see Joe and Sailater standing next to the ditch! When you see Joe you can't help smiling and...

What? You just noticed a strange light in the sky?

The light gets brighter and everyone looks up and then suddenly a huge flashing round shape floats down out of the sky! It's making so much noise you can hardly hear anything else!

Everyone can't help taking a step back!

"No! It isn't possible!" You look at Auroara but she doesn't look at you! It seems like she's really upset!

"Your intuition was correct, Prima!"

"As was yours, Aura!"

You glance at the big pipe and see the Auraprimas climb out of it and look up at the huge flashing round shape!

"What is it?"

You meant to say that out loud but you have to shout again for them to hear you! When they finally hear you both Auraprimas look at you and speak at the same time!

"The enemy!"

What? You just remembered Auroara and the Auraprimas were made to fight a war against aliens from another world?

Suddenly a beam of light shines down on one of the Auraprimas! She crouches down to leap away but before she can do anything she starts floating up into the beam of light!

"Aura!" Prima jumps up at Aura and tries to grab her hand but Aura gets pulled higher out of reach!

Lottatax says "Lottatax!" and sticks its tongue out at Aura but then Lottatax gets pulled up into the beam of light! You turn around and run back toward the big pipe!

Suddenly the beam of light shines on Tamounda!

Tamounda looks up and says "Tamounda?" and starts floating up after Aura and Lottatax! He wiggles his legs and looks down at you and says "Tamounda!" but he keeps rising higher!

You start to jump at Tamounda but then you feel something grab your arm! You look over your shoulder and see Auroara and she shakes her head at you and shouts "Run!" and starts pulling you backward away from the beam of light!

"Pakitt!"

"Interesting."

You look back and see both professors watching Pakitt and Onlion float up into the air!

The beam of light shines on Prima and starts pulling her into the air after Onlion and then it shines on Ramster!

"Ram-ram!" Ramster tries to jump out of the way but the beam of light catches him in midair and starts pulling him up after Prima!

Suddenly you feel your arm pulled up into the air and when you look at Auroara you have to squint because the beam of light is shining on her! When Auroara realizes what's happening she lets go and shouts "Run!"

"Over here!"

You look behind you and see Joe and start running toward him when the beam of light shines on Sailater!

Sailater growls and starts floating up into the air after Auroara and...

What? Sailater is only floating up a little bit? The beam is shining on Sailater but Sailater is only floating a little bit above the ground! Sailater's tail is still touching the ground!

It seems like Sailater is too heavy!

Sailater looks up at the alien balloon and roars!

Suddenly the beam of light shines toward you!

The beam of light moves toward you but you jump sideways just in time and it barely misses you! The beam of light slides along the ground back toward you and you jump forward and then spin around and roll behind it and then stand up and run toward Sailater!

Sailater looks at the beam behind you and roars at it! You can see the light reflecting off Sailater!

You're running as fast as you can! You can't even look back because you're running so fast but it seems like the beam of light is right behind you!

Look out!


????? is using Beam Up!

Cutémon dodges out of the way!


You jump forward and the beam of light almost catches your foot but then you slide underneath of Sailater just as the beam of light skims past you!

The beam of light shines on Sailater and starts to lift Sailater up again! Sailater looks up at the alien balloon and roars and you crawl further underneath of Sailater and then the beam of light moves away from Sailater and Sailater drops out of the air on top of you!

[SFX: booming noise]

You jump out of the way of Sailater's foot and when the dust clears you see the beam of light aimed at Joe! When the beam of light shines on Joe he raises his hand to shield his eyes and suddenly gets dragged forward!

What? Something is dragging Joe closer to the beam of light? Joe's jacket pocket is sticking out! It looks like the beam of light is lifting up the cutécaptor through Joe's jacket!

Suddenly Joe rises up off the ground and into the air!

"Joe!"

You didn't mean to... Hey, where are you going?

When you see Joe starting to float up into the beam of light you scramble out from under Sailater and run toward him!

Sailater swings its tail at you to stop you but you jump over it and the beam of light catches you in midair!


Cutémon can't help being abducted!


[SFX: roaring]

Sailater doesn't like it!

The last thing you see is Sailater and Professor Bean looking up at you as you float up into the light and then you can't see anything!
