In the real world you are a humble programmer and circuit designer. One that gained a position developing singularity-grade AI hardware for the largest Supercorp on the planet, Quad-Optimus Industries. But every attempt made by Quad-Opt and other conglomerates to create a singularity has fizzled so far. The next try is due to occur in a few weeks, but you’ve already submitted all your work for the task and have taken an extended vacation to indulge in the newest game on the market. The only full-dive VR game in existence.

And in the <span class="mu-s"> [False World] </span>, you’re someone else entirely.

In your first session, you fought an Infestation and prayed to the gods for an outpost from which players might venture further into the wild swamps of Arcadia. In the next you set out on an expedition for profit and to restore a newfound friend from the consequences of her death. Before departing you lopped off your own arms to replace them with boneforged psybernetics which guide your hand with any weapon, and grafted a pair of eels harvested from the Infestation onto yourself to gain their aid in battle.

You felt the power in these augmetics earlier…but the scene of violence occurring before you has planted a seed of doubt about your capability.
