The Dogbusters' March 14

You are Mouse, the ogre. Although raised by humans you found yourself in service of the dark elven queen - and with her blessing you have embarked on a quest to purge the corruption plaguing the very world you live in.

You are not alone. Your mission is shared by an eclectic band of companions:
-Phineous, the sophisticated orc of culture.
-Smutkin, the formerly depraved bard who took your mission for his own
-Sparky, the formerly warped imp that was, by touch of holy power, transformed into something else
-Tithe, the diminutive yet vigilant gargoyle
-Chloe, the shadow of the queen sent to safeguard you and your mission.
Your band has since grown to include human companions:
-Elle, the royal courier
-Harriet and Janet, the twin scouts
and the twin golems you've freed from their questionable service to the old order, they've accepted names you've given them: Diana and Minerva.

Having embarked on a journey towards the mythical site of Atlassia, presumed heart of the cult of the Beast, you are accompanied also by your dark queen Olga and the mercenary princess Maia, who hopes to reach for the heart of the man who took upon himself leadership of the forces of darkness, the mercenary general Vult.

You have already spent several days on the road to your objective, and although not by any means dragging your feet, you did allow yourself some violent distractions. First one was when you had fought off a raid onto a remote hamlet, and intelligence you've gleaned as a result had led you to the one you were just about ready to wrap up.

Alongside with your companions, and flexing the newfound powers you've been practicing with help of the fragment(?) of goddess Laurentia you've wrestled from the clutches of the Nameless Beast, you have purged an outpost of the mercenary army where Vult's court magic user, Kin, had left a crew of mercenaries tainted by Beast's unholy powers.

There were some survivors.

Although you have wielded the powers of light to great effect as you fought the tainted, you can't help but be amazed by how Sparky had used his - not only to purge the darkness, but to mend and heal, both the captive women you've liberated from the outpost's cellar, and a group of mercenaries that had survived the onslaught.

There seemed to be more to the touch of light than simple mending of the body. It felt as if it had left a sliver of sanctuary around you... a sensation not entirely unfamiliar to you, as it reminded you of when you reminisced about your childhood. And, perhaps, as a seed of hope for the future.

Perhaps part of it all was why the situation around you seemed relatively manageable, if tense.

You alternated your attention between the group of thirteen men, halfway into a repentance trance, clad in torn clothes and trying to figure themselves out, and four women, radiating an exotic mixture of joy, anxiety and outrage. Victims and tormentors, both recipients of mercy.
