A thread for discussion of fashion dolls including Barbie, Disney, LOL OMG, Living Dead Dolls, Licca-chan etc but not BJD.

Other toys considered dolls as well as girl collectable toys that are related to dolls or can be used as accessories to dolls are also welcome such as LOL, Capsule Chix, Shopkins, Polly Pocket and the like.

I guess? I sorta doubt that many doll people come here though. First you have 4chan's overall bad rep due to years of trolling and /pol/ and stuff. The name of the board doesn't even explicitly say anything about dolls, so you'd need to come a board with a name as vague as "/toy/" and specifically seek out this thread, which I don't think a lot of people would. Also, even though this thread is nearing its end, we have only had 53 unique posters in it. So I think this place is probably pretty niche.

Does anyone know where the hell Bella Parker is? I've seen some YouTube shills parade her around but that's because they got her free from MGA. Apparently she was supposed to release today (Nov 8th) but I must be stupid or something because I can't find her listed on Target or Amazon. Why on Earth did she release without the rest of the second RH wave, anyway? Is this normal for fashion dolls?

In terms of the bjd community no it’s not popular at all, DOA has over a decades worth of resources and a huge international marketplace
/bjd/ threads hardy manage to get one post a day

I’m pretty sure it’s the same with other dolls comms where a single forum that’s been around since the early 2000s dominates the community and makes other platforms kind of irrelevant

Plus a lot of doll collectors are women in their 30s - 40s who wouldn’t be on 4chan in the first place

Lolita has the link with anime and japan that something like Barbie does not

the community just all left/got absorbed by BJD Discord. during the years there was an active /bjd/, threads would each last two to three weeks before hitting post or image limit, which is active enough for toy. it operated concurrently with the /jp/ thread for several years, mostly the vinyl people were there and the resin people here

there's just zero reason to post about bjds here anymore since you can get the same instant-post kind of interaction on the existing discord servers, instagram, even DoA had an instant chat feature at one point in the recent past

Yeah, Mattel definitely feels like they're scared to go full instabaddie like MGA. I don't mind the idea of what they're doing with the diverse dolls, but they need to actually put some effort in and not just throw them into potato sacks. That almost feels more offensive somehow, like ok, you finally got your disabled or vitiligo doll, but she looks like she was carelessly shit out in two minutes just to tick that box.

As for BMR, I think it actually COULD work if there was someone to rein it in slightly. So many of them are close to being good, they've just got one too many clashing patterns or garish color choices. Play those wild patterns/colors against some calmer neutrals sprinkled in here and there, and I think I'd be on board.

So of course Hasbro wouldn't release it! What a shame! It's the EG dolls that everyone wanted from day one. Was there any reason stated why Hasbro wasn't making this new line? With the success of OMG & Rainbow High, a new EG doll line like Ponka here would do good jumping on that bandwagon.

Interesting. There's also so prototype designs for the Legend of Everfree doll outfits on the Twitter post, but they clearly cross the line into verboten territory.

So what I can gather these may be the prototypes of the "G2" EG dolls that came out a couple of years back. Ya knoe, the ones that were really cheaply made and sold horribly? Yeah, Hasbro decided that these high quality protos were probably too costly and those cheap crappy dolls were better. GG, Hasbro.

Such a promising looking revival of the EG dolls. It's a shame that Hasbro once again had to go the cheap route. And look where it got them.

And yeah, Cimmi Cumes is a real person,despite the obvious porn name. She did work on EG at hasbro until 2015, when she jumped ship to Mattel and has stayed there since. She's worked on Polly Pocket, Wild Hearts Crew, and a lot of other girl brands.

Gosh, the Equestria Girls dolls really needed to lean into the pseudo-anime style the show did. The sculptor did big anime eyes here, but paired it with a freakily realistic nose and mouth. It just doesn't work for me, it ends up spooking me more than anything.

To add to this, lorem ipsum is used because it simulates the look and spacing of real passages of text at a glance, as opposed to the garbled mess that keysmashing would produce. Seeing what real text would look like, before you have the actual text in-hand, is often essential for determining the look of a design.

Also what does your picture have to do with women grieving the loss of their baby? I have a baby Yoda plush and I could definitely see dressing it up to be cute and putting it on a better body. The body it comes on is absolute shite, it doesn't even have legs. We're in a fashion doll thread for adults, it doesn't seem that crazy.

I've never ordered anything off of shopdisney before, but decided to create an account 30mins before Hades went live. When I got sent to the virtual waiting room 10mins before 10AM I remember the anon who complained about it in this thread, and started reading the horror stories online about people who waited over an hour in there only to get nothing. I was about to shut my computer off, and go to bed when I got redirected back to the site, and I was able to grab one too!! Had trouble checking out since it was my first time, but it went trough and I got a conformation email!

I had trouble entering the free shipping code, and I started to panic as I've read that if you don't hurry up while checking out the site may pull the doll out of your cart so I ended up paying about $18 in shipping, but at least I don't have to deal with scalpers or have to go to an actual store.
