>>7426601At the time I didn't buy it as an investment, rather as something I enjoyed. I opened, built and modified almost of my collection. Only keeping a few uncommon sets I stumbled upon unopen either to save for an occasion that never happened, for space or to preserve their history. I remember debating opening up the Cloud City for that reason.
I was just stating it was nice that it just so worked out that something I was passionate about collecting ending up increasing in value by the time I decided to leave it. Lego is a great toy for that reason, it always holds some value. I don't think I sold anything for more than 3x I paid for except the UCS Falcon.
Although, I don't understand all of the hate for current resellers. The market is so flooded with sets kept as an "investment" they aren't appreciating. In fact, the only "new" set I have is the Tower of Orthanc I bought last year for retail MSRP despite it long since being retired. I don't know why anyone would do it now with the current market, re-releases, storage room, list/shipping costs, the pain of selling online, etc.
Aside from that, I'm not really drawn to anything new. I'm purely nostalgia driven and prefer the simplicity, charm and style of 80s/90s Lego. I think I also fell out of love with Star Wars come the sequel trilogy. Or maybe I just grew out of it. Don't know.
