We've had our third (or fourth?) round of false spring here, with another wave of cold and snow expected over the coming days. Was nice enough yesterday I went out for some shots; ultimately I only got a couple done, the ground was still too wet and cold for prolonged activity.
After the heavy defeat of their surprise offensive at Totenkopf Pass and the and breaking of their siege of Fortress Emerald in the late stages of last fall (see
https://archive.palanq.win/toy/thread/10726950/#10734228) the Tans were saved from further disaster by the onset of winter, putting a freeze on all major operations for both sides. In a display of their legendary resilience and as an exercise in badly needed morale-boosting the Tan special forces have carried out numerous raids and spoiling actions across the front lines, sometimes striking deep into Green territory to snatch intel and wreak havoc.
This particular operation resulted in the successful neutralization of a forward Green air defence and early warning outpost - the crushing victories of the previous fall and the tedium of winter inactivity lulled its garrison into complacency, to their great detriment. Tan helicopters, roaring in at grasstop height and exploiting a sliver of a gap in the Green radar coverage dropped right onto the outpost, annihilating the defenders for no losses of their own. At the time of this image's recording, Tan troops are fanning out to establish a perimeter while a comm uplink/EW station is being established to potentially exploit the success for further gains.
