>>8560760>Spiriah is just a huge heap of missed potentialSince we've been talking about Skakdi, I would say the opposite. I think the character Spiriah shouldn't have existed to begin with.
Skakdi were cool because they were kind of like Bionicle's orcs, a species of naturally violent and warring assholes. And it was neat to see another group of natural elementals aside from the Toa.
Then 2008 came and Spiriah's backstory retconned them into yet another "They turned evil because they got experimented/mutated" case, like a good deal of the Book's Dark Hunters.
Sure, Greg shortly after backpedaled and went all "t-they were assholes even before Spiriah's experiments!", but it's Spiriah who turned them into the violent assholes with elemental powers we got to know. Basically 2006's main villains were just a bunch of failed experiments.
Spiriah's only real purpose was acting as a sort of antagonist for the Suicide Squad plot and get BTFO by Miserix, but those roles could've been fulfilled by an existing character, like Takadox (treacherous asshole), Pridak (ex-Brotherhood employee), or Roodaka (both). Those characters pretty much did nothing after their arcs anyway.
