Ok so I checked a local hobby shop, they didn't have any tamiya abs cement, but I did find something similar (pic related). So hopefully that works out well. Can I use this for the entire model, or should I get some other plastic cement as well?
Now are the tamiya brand paints, primers, and top coat necessary, or could I just use whatever I have on hand or can find? I have a lot of cheap acrylics, and a testors gloss enamel finishing set that I got last year but never used.

Ok so as I understand it, you prime the piece, paint it the base color you want, give it a gloss top coat, paint the secondary color, give it another gloss top coat, paint the finer details, including any weathering or decals, than give it a final top coat using either matte, or semi gloss. Is that correct?
Now a couple other questions. I assume the base coat doesn't have to be lacquer, but you can't paint lacquer on top of enamel or acrylics. I'd like to avoid lacquers if possible, so would an enamel base coat, and acrylic detailing work? Or maybe just acrylics for the entire thing?
And is there a reason why it suggests a gloss after the base coat and detailing steps? Would matte or semi gloss work just as well here?
I don't have an airbrush, so I'd probably do most painting with a brush.
