God I wish this was made into a decent action figure and not just a peanut sized gimmicky weapon thingie.

Agreed. The Orion Pax gimmick is neat on the new one, but that's about all it has going for it. Otherwise the main Optimus design doesn't have enough of a new spin, and that truck mode is definitely fucked.

The Classics mold still holds up really nicely. Only thing it really needs is gestural hands over the old blob-with-weapon-hole style. People pick at the arm "kibble" but it's hardly an issue. Holds tons of poses really well, and the voyager size is very appropriate.

When was the last time they used the VF-1, "fold jet in half" transformation with the arms forming the rear of the jet? I'd rather they reuse that if they are going to be lazy. It's not very parts intensive either, G2 Hooligan executed it despite the size.

The main problem with her is the fact they want her to still look distinctly female. That being said, there's nothing to stop them from giving her arms cuffs, having the fist fold away into a turbine, and melding that to the wings so at least they can say they tried. Shit, even having the shoulders to mimic an engine and hiding the arms inside the body would be better.

One shame as I last said in response to another anon who pointed it out, the lack of the orange press pump for the cannon, it COULD have been homages via coloring the titan master cannon extension orange, but instead they opted to have a more cohesive color scheme.

Also interesting fact, thanks to the anon who said it was "arch force" megatron.

Turns out our "g2 megatron" is actually based off an european variant who was actually named Archforce, so its...not a megatron.

More annoyingly so there are no g2 symbols on the main surface areas and yet spiffy sticker details are present.

Could have at least fit those in somewhere rather than giving him the random g1 symbol, but there might be hope, if Japanese autist can change how legends kup is colored maybe they can fix g2 megatron, no faction symbol would be more accurate

That's what is wrong about the previous post. The mold was designed as Megatron and they just changed the name in Europe, not the other way around.

In my case I go for what looks better for me, if its a mp insta-buy, but for the shelf retail I decide what simply looks better, sometimes even a hasbro figure can win out case in point misfire in titan returns pops more than his takara version, even with the inaccurate "gun" he has

Closest is one I didnt expect to like : I have the blades from that weird protectobot set they released a few years ago. It's a repaint of Blademaster, often considered to be one of the worst figures to come out of ROTF. I like it. The transformation is pretty interesting (and not as fiddly as some people make it to be) and the robot mode is so weird but not in a bad way imho.

Other transformers I got and disliked, I still dislike. (Universe Cheetor, ROTF Arcee...)

He's fine and he works well, but there's nothing special about his engineering unless you're stricken by the novelty of his torso flip. If the sculpt had been just a little different he would've looked absolutely horrendous since the arms don't really do anything except disguise that they're arms.

So I picked some of this stuff up from my local hobby shop a few weeks ago at the staff's recommendation to do some mods to MPM04. Namely adding a few more loadbearing tabs made of scrap ABS to hold that fucking hood down.

This shit is absolutely fucking magic. I've been able to repair so many figures from my childhood, even fixing loadbearing joints and tabs. Like holy fuck, how did I not know about this stuff. Super easy to apply too, sets and evaporates incredibly quickly so unwanted bleedover into nearby joints is easily avoidable by working them for a minute or so while the excess evaporates.

Didn't have the /tg/ background where plastic cement is the only way to do business, probably. It just melts plastic together, thats why it's so strong of a bond, because it's fusing the two bits together, not gluing them together like superglue.

Unsure, never used the Tamiya cement. This is my firest experience with any form of solvent glue. FWIW, the way this stuff applies, you hold the joint together before applying it, paint the glue over the joint and let it soak in. Sets in ~10s, reasonably solid in an hour, completely cured in 24. Everything I've used ABS wise has held rock hard except HFTD Brimstone's shoulder ball sockets, which I fear may be suffering from early stages of GPS given I picked him up off my shelf after a few years of sitting and the sockets had fractured on their own. Same thing happened to one of ROTF Prime's feet pin joints, which seems like the same plastic. I'm a bit worried.

I wish there was a way I could force Hasbro to design transformers the way I want. Shell and kibble are atrocities and unless they serve an aesthetic purpose (wings, capes etc) they should be punishable in a design. Also the designs should move away from the current boxy look (but not completely when it works with the character) and I'd like to see some innovative transformations like the japanese Beast Wars had.

pretty good cassette modes if you ignore the fairly obvious dino heads. The decals and Chrome are still in really good condition for G1 originals, save for Overkill's eyes but I don't think I've seen a non-mint copy that still has those in tact.

Distribution wasn't that bad. I'm in the Netherlands.

I just didn't buy them when they were in the store. They shelfwarmed for ages while I was waiting for eave 2 to get mindwipe and wolfwire. Then I got highbrow as a one off. In the mean time I've also gotten walgreens Brainstorm. So now I need Chromedome and Hardhead.

I just assumed wave 1 would shelfwarm here forever. I was wrong and now I'm drowning in a sea of cuck rods.

Honestly, alpha trion being the voyager with the four girls being limbs make the most sense, but they just made him.
Arcee being such a limited release could be a sign they decided to roll her over to the combiners in potp (after all, we just got a hotrod and rodimus head)

Which one? My fruity G2 Bruticus' Vortex still uses the flawed design PLUS that awful stress-mark prone blue-metallic plastic, so I sanded down the peg before any disastrous happened. I can't remember if TakaTomy Bruticus used the fixed design.

That's the flawed design IIRC. It's basically circular on the outside and hexagonal on the inside of the port. The grey plastic is more resistant to stress but it's best you sand down the hfg peg to be safe.

The fixed design is thickened and is circular on the inside as well. I know Megatronia and Baldigus uses that.

It clearly has combiner ports hidden in its knees and the arms are pretty much identical save for the sculpting.
Not sure if it's actually a Silverbolt retool, which also had ports in its knees and blocky arms, but not putting the leg's ports inside the dragon heads was enough to make me drop Abominus altogether. Maybe a turd party will do a good alternative unlike the literal retards who designed Lone Wolf.

Also I'm using the weapons from the T30 Blitzwing. The swords are about the same length, but the T30's is wider. Neither gun is that great though.

Definitely worth. It beats out the T30 on all fronts for me. It has storage for every weapon from both figures oddly enough, at least in jet mode. Haven't tried doing similar in tank.

If they were wrapping their heads thinking of how to integrate the second heads into modern toys this is dumb. They made so much compromises in TR I don't think people would've minded if the animal heads were just integrated into the body itself.

It's because of the execution a bit. G1 Dinobots had surprising amounts of sculpted detail under their clear bits, and sometimes the clear bits would be just a small part on like a hip or something.

The way they talk about the fan polls, immediately dodging scorp and omega, it makes me think trypticon was such a massive blowout that they're unsure about doing either.
We know 2018 will be predaking, and 2019 will need it's own titan class. It seems the rest of the main combiners will all be released in regular waves.
So titan class 2019 is heavily likely to be a retool
Maybe that gives hope for scorpy, but my gut tells me we're getting a unicron in 19 and primus in 20

The instructions are probably something like "Step 1: move this part, step 2: move it further, step 3: move it again, step 4: finish moving it"
They sometimes do that shit to pad out instructions to make it seem more complex than it really is, or sometimes they just have simple steps that don't really convey easily in a single instruction step.

Still, looks cute though. I think I'll get one to go with my iron dibots

I'm not sure how to say this without sounding like I'm shitposting, but I'm kind of surprised by how not shit everything in PotP seems so far.

Maybe I just find the Dinobots more appealing or something but I really feel like there's a certain quality to everything we've see so far that just wasn't there in CW and TR. This little legends toy alone looks higher quality than any single CW toy I have. Like seriously if I didn't have the packaging for it I would have thought my CW hotspot came from a dollar store.

You got a serious case of "new and shiny=better" there Anon. CW was good except for the filler waves of non-combiners-being-combiners, TR was good outside of a few shining examples of how to fuck up what should be an easy thing (Galvatron being the biggest fuckup), and PotP is just the same as the rest so far. Some good looking figures, and some crap looking ones. We're not getting a major upgrade or downgrade in any way, it's merely the status quo where some figures will be great and others will leave you wondering what the fuck happened that something so bad could ever be wheeled out the door.

That's because potm has the luxury of blowing their design budget on a few fan favorites, knowing huge amount of retools we're getting.
Starscream into elita1 jazz into probably 5 or 6 different cars, the decepticon jets are remolds, inferno, and so on.
On top of that, 3 waves of leaders, only 3 molds (no remolding at all) That's fewer than tr (by wave 3 we had 4) and on par with cw (wave 3 had 3 i think)
Considering the potential for repaints in other size classes, this is gonna be a fairly cost effective line.
Especially since its 90% shared engineering.
