He would also compare his writing style to radio dramas by Orson Welles. He argued that Welles never read his scripts before reading them out loud, which made his delivery much more genuine, so not knowing where Greg's own story would go made his writing much more genuine as well. Of course the major hole in this argument is, Welles' scripts were handed to him by other people who probably had at least some sort of idea about how they'd play out. He wasn't the one writing them, he didn't have to think about plot and character consistency or universe rules, he just read others' stories to an audience.
