Allowed Ennis and Morrison do their own thing for an older audience. Set up an alternate universe for Marvel that allowed for a more modern take for superheroes that was also used as a blue print for the MCU.
Seriously, the 00s was one of the greatest eras for Marvel. Nearly every superhero was allowed to shine during that time, vs the 80s and 90, where only a few characters/series shone (Claremont XMen).
