Probably a decent amount but I doubt it's the majority, I think most ML collectors just buy what figures they want without specifically trying to complete teams. Or at least, only completing major teams, but not caring about getting all the Serpent Society figures for example.

I collect my favorite versions of teams. For example I'm a big fan of the New Avengers run from the early 2000s so I have that team built out. Same for Jim Lee era X-Men, Classic Avengers and so on.

I think a lot of Marvel Legends specific collectors are just completionists in general. I'm glad I don't have that need to have 10 of the same character so I can complete 10 different teams.

I don't go out looking to complete teams, but Marvel Legends were cheap enough for me to think to myself, "well, I already have X, Y, and Z, may as well get this other figure to complete the team." I did that a bit with BAF waves too; no desire to complete Xemnu but I had like 6 of the 8 required figures and the others were cheap on sale so now I have them and Xemnu.

I like these costumes but I’m also kind of getting to the point I don’t know how many versions of the same character I want to own. I toss mine. I kept my Retro Spidey card because I have huge nostalgia for those old toys, I had them when I was a kid, but every just the one, I tossed all the other retro cards as I don't have as much attachment to them. I do have those Power of the Force II Star Wars figures that I can't bring myself to open. As much nostalgia I have for the Spidey TAS figs, It goes quadruple for the Star Wars PotFII. Those were probably my favorite toys as a kid.

Troon is short for 'Trans Goon' and was used by Trans members of a particular sub thread on the Something Awful forums to refer to themselves as a play on how Something Awful posters refer to themselves as Goons. These look great but Hasbro really needs to give their female bodies a calf swivel. Not doing that creates these awkward foot positions and limits how wide stances can get. It's baffling, the vast majority of women (even modern figures) don't have them. Not even on this figure, which is a new mold and could have hidden the swivel perfectly what with those lines on her legs.

Even as someone who buys and (mostly) enjoys Hasbro figures, McFarlane is quickly surpassing them. His use of softer PVC has been very beneficial for range, and he's been adding some nice touches lately like joints sculpted to match their surroundings.

And most crucially to me, he is mostly using simple balljoints that are extremely easy to take apart and mod even for a beginner. What's more, most times you can do as ugly a job as you like, because McFarlane's "layered" approach means that most of that shit will be hidden away under something anyway. Now I know some might argue you shouldn't have to mod figures at all, but it's more of an extra freebie IMO. Todd's figures are fine as is for the most part, but adding more range is never a bad thing, especially when it's this easy. Hasbro doesn't even give you that ability at all, with figures that are not easy to disassemble, and will plainly show any cuts you make.

The same design at Hasbro would be on an unpainted buckycap body with like a few tampos. McFarlane does fuck up and make some funny looking figures sometimes, but you can't really dispute the effort he puts in on most of them.
