I can kind of see why people accuse it of being the castle that killed Castle as it’s probably too challenging for very young builders (6 to 10yo), but unlikely to hold the interest of experienced builders.
Had three brown bricks snap during the build but conveniently, or perhaps suspiciously, replacements for those three specific bricks were already provided.
There was also significant yellowing on a number of gray bricks, which is worrying considering they’re less than 15yo.
The brick quality is vastly inferior to my old man’s sets from the 80’s and early 90’s, however it’s on par with what we’ve got today.
Siege engine side builds were fun, but I deeply regret covering the dragon catapult with st*ckers.
If I were to assign the set a review score I’d say it gets a 6/10.
Do I regret putting it together instead of dumping it unopened on BL for a quick 400 dollars? Not at all hahaha…
