>>9973296My pre-90s TRUs used to have one entrance and one exit. Both were the same long corridor that lead into the main part of the store, seperated by a rail. One TRU had the exit leading outside, where you walked right next to that corridor's wall.
Post-90s TRUs had one entrance and two exits. Entrance and exits were on the opposite side of the building. One exit was near the cash registers.
The other exit was next to the game redemption room, where you brought your receipt and gaming ticket. It was also a service room where they would bring your bike and other oversized shit like play tables. This the exit served as a loading area, so the sidewalk outside slopped down to make it easier to load shit into your car.
For you zoomers, sometime either in the late 80s or early 90s, TRUs revamped their look to look brighter and cheerier, with large bay windows in the front. No more comfy wood buildings and some older TRUs rennovated to look like the new design.
I bet you zoomers find it hard to imagine that stores could retain an image for longer than 5 years, where modern companies need to redesign their shit to keep people's attentions.
Also, I doubt there were many TRUs being built in the late 90s and 00s, as most new construction were for BabiesRUs, but i doubt they kept the two exits. Most of the TRUs i knew closed off the loading/game redemption exit by the late 90s.
