You have to take apart the waist to get at the ratchet gears, but a few drops should smooth it out. Mine is just fine now, has been for over 6 months, and I transform him a lot.
You could just get Inferno or Grapple, they don't have that issue, so it's weird it cropped up on Artie. Grapple's got quite a lot of changes (I've read his mold has over 50% new parts), and his transformation isn't as elegant or satisfying as a result, and he gets some extra kibble that hurts his leg movement. Also, no Targetmaster, obviously. But I will shill the fuck out of the mold until I die. I think it's just a perfect Transformer in almost every respect. Wonderful balance.
