A better method is to get a plastic tub (like a Rubbermaid dishpan) and a plastic colander (like pic related). Fill the plastic tub with hot soapy water, clean your bricks in that, and then pour the contents of the tub into the colander so you can rinse them off. This way the dirty soapwater gets strained out and you're left with clean, wet bricks, and there's no risk of pieces going down the drain. Then you just spread the cleaned bricks out on a towel to dry, and start on the next batch of dirty bricks.
