I guess so, thank you anon but then i get even more autistic since none of the lego sets in the catalog aren't even consistent with Ninjago retro-modern Japanese building style. An ordinary blue and white police station looks off next to a colorful mech or shop build. Now Monkie Kid is coming and that has Chinese stuff which look fine but kinda off next to Ninjago Sets and i lose myself.

I thought about that anon but i own only a few amount of buildings. Modulars are too expensive here, Friends is too pastel, Hidden Side only has 2 buildings (don't get me wrong they are amazing), i don't like license stuff other than TLBM, City sets are too open to display they are made more for playing, Ninjago only offers buildings only 2-3 years and sometimes even they are shallow. Creator is too busy looking, they add unneeded details, tiling to boost the parts count. It's why i have all my sets work with each other because i can't afford to give them their own sections. It's why i also have Unikitty amusement park as a spot in my city.

I see older sets of the hidden side are getting quite cheap going on sale quite regularly I assume the next wave will be its last. how well loved is the hidden side? if I buy a few sets and hold on to them will they go up in value in a few years. was it memorable and creative enough to see any demand for it later when its been retired?

/lg/ really likes it, but as a whole it doesn't seem like it made a great impact. Plus there's not that many rare pieces in the sets. If I were to invest in a Lego theme, I'd probably pick a different one. I guess they could be worth something once kids who played with them start buying them out of nostalgia, but that's a good number of years away

Not a picture from a set I own yet, but this particular map shows up in both the 2015 line and the current releases, so clearly they must be set in the same area. I'm coming up with lore about the different parts of the map and where the more stationary sets are (Barracuda Bay, Skull Island, Soldier's Fort etc.), and clearly the Creator ship will have to be remodeled into one for the Bluecoats.

Really is. Constraction has good parts, but they're for covering the large frames. Detailing and refinement of a model comes from using Technic to flesh it out.

The Great Lego Space Quarantine contest of 2020 is underway.
The core concept is this: Design your own Space Theme. General guidelines are pretty loose, make something that could have served as a Space faction for LEGO in the late 80s and early 90s.
If you need inspiration and a sort of guide you can have a look at existing space themes from that period – Futuron, Blacktron, Ice Planet 2002, Exploriens, etc.

The rules:
1.Each participant may submit one build as an entry to the contest. A timestamp of your creation and the email I will then use to get in contact with you will be required when you first submit your build. To submit just reply to this post with a picture that contains your build!
2.Modern parts and complex building techniques are allowed but the end result should look like something that could fit in with original sets and themes from that period. The idea is not to try to give the guys at Neo Classic Space a run for their money but instead attempt to do what the guys building the Space set prototypes from the 80s and 90s did.
3.Bonus points are awarded if the builds are stable and have play features (although these are not hard requirements they will help your build leap/zoom/swoosh ahead of the competition).
4.A submission consists of one build of any size. That means very small builds do qualify. I have decided to make this change at the request of a poster who asked for this last thread and presented solid arguments. There is no limit to how big you can go but this is not Shiptember. The emphasis should not be on number of parts but rather on the overall result.
5.Adding lore and backstory to your submission is strongly encouraged. Heck you can even make boxes and put the sets inside if you’re autistic enough. More effort is always better.
6.Digital builds are allowed but will start off with a severe disadvantage when judged.

Flesh looks too much like a low quality scale model. Makes the set, or environment you are setting the figs in look bad. Yellow without pupil stays true to the original aesthetic of LEGO as a children's play toy and not a low quality resin model

I tend to agree, and go to yellow minifig heads before the fleshy ones, but I still will use them together just as separate races. Obviously Yellow is the masterrace, followed by dark fleshy, then 'white' fleshy.

Harry Potter is an awful series. The initial books had the draw of world exploration. All you had after Hogwarts and the surrrounding world were established was some boring kids doing fuckall in a setting where magic exists. No lightning bolts, no blazing swords, no concussive spellblasts and zazz. And because it's british, it has an extra air of misery about it. Idk how to describe it, but all british media have a sort misery applied over them.
Anyway, everything was mundane. You'd open a HP book and read about a kid gushing over a collection of chamber pots. Or you could open the Silmarilion instead and read about how Tulcas punched the face of evil in the face.

It's not even only the brick quality but something is going wrong with that company in general.
Stuff doesn't seem to get tested anymore like those non-functional-by-design ripcord helicopters from this year or the Ferrari Tributo where you couldn't actually close the cockpit properly. What's worse is that Lego isn't admitting that they fucked up and are blaming the CUSTOMERS for those issues (seriously, check out the reviews on their shop site) despite the fact that it's physically impossible for those helicopters to properly fly and people even calculated the overall height of the Ferrari and space between the windscreen and minifig, coming to the conclusion that there is like half to one millimeter space missing to properly close it.

Less of a resource hog on equivalent systems (Stud.io is running on fucking Unity). Interface shortcuts are much better laid-out (almost entirely on left half with mouse modifiers, compared to Stud.io where you have to move a hand over to the Delete key to delete parts, for one example). Images for part categories is much faster to process and remember where things are (Lego is, after all, a visual medium).

Stud.io is good for exactly 4 things:
>relatively up-to-date parts and import capability
>things that work IRL but not with LDD's strict connections
>simple, fast rendering (the best is still Mecabricks-to-Blender, but Mecabricks is even more awkward than Stud.io)
>instruction creation (actually very good)

They absolutely knew the ferrari didn't fit right, it was just way more important that the car look like it's meant to than have that one part not sit slightly wrong. It's so minor I didn't notice on mine till people here pointed it out.
The helicopters are a big fuckup though.

This is partially what's annoying with "x hacked y to run doom". Too many things that are just displays having something spliced in to it to run doom from another pc.
However even though it has a display it also has hardware and some form of on board memory, which means that in theory someone could run Doom on it, like actually run doom on it, not just tap in to the video cable.

I just had this little idea, you're welcome to if you like it.
Build a mirror image version of what you already have. Then a third floor that sits on top of them both, but leaves a gap between the two. In the gap, on the second floor would be an outdoors open plan balcony area.

That certainly sounds like the best way to verify it, since it's going to be wrapping around a cylinder and will look deformed compared to your flat original design

I wasn't going to talk about this but idk i kinda wanna share, i talked with a leaker during the uprising to the other leakers. They apparently all have a preliminary image catalog full of unreleased sets. They sent me a screenshot of the page number and the "confidential" text. If they release the confidential pictures Lego will try to make the catalog more secure. I asked them if i could trace the outlines of the sets and share them since that way nothing gets "leaked". I asked them this weeks ago and they said they'd contact me but they never talked to me again.

The problem with Overwatch is that none of the sets were big or detailed enough to capture all the little details and charm of the game maps.

Hanamura had a modern (future) arcade and restaurant with back allies that led to a temple, which led to a courtyard and garden, that was outside of a wooden palace.

This is the Lego that we got for it, and one of the minifigs wasn't even a playable hero, but some mook from the animated short.

I have a problem /lg/. My lego bins are clogged with so much dust that I cant be exposed to them for more than an hour without feeling sick. I'd like to clean them out but theres so many legos that I dont know where to start. Also I live in a college dorm for half the year so im afraid the bins will just get dusty again. Any suggestions? Ziploc bags seems like a good solution and im considering looking for some small parts organizers i could put on my desk. Don't put them in the sun. They'll dry almost as quickly if you just spread them out on a towel and stir them around every few hours. When I wash pieces, I make sure to knock the water out of the insides so they dry more quickly.

Washing your legos directly in the bathtub is a great way to lose some tiny pieces down the drain.

A better method is to get a plastic tub (like a Rubbermaid dishpan) and a plastic colander (like pic related). Fill the plastic tub with hot soapy water, clean your bricks in that, and then pour the contents of the tub into the colander so you can rinse them off. This way the dirty soapwater gets strained out and you're left with clean, wet bricks, and there's no risk of pieces going down the drain. Then you just spread the cleaned bricks out on a towel to dry, and start on the next batch of dirty bricks.

Boomer here. This was the best helicoper of my era and I think it still holds up not because of nostalgia but because of nice design. I really hated these tiny similar helicopters spammed in 90s and 2000s but this one is slitghtly bigger but still not out of proportion.

Hey /lg/, just recieved 99% of the pieces I needed to make my supernova. Pretty happy about the result, even if I find the thrusters to be a little too brittle for my taste. Thanks you, and yeah sorry, I didn't explain the idea behind the moc. I wanted to redo some mechs from the Exo Force line with a more realistic tone in term of design and feel. I mostly want to do the heroes since I prefered those designs, but I may do some robots if I find a good way to differenciate them. As for the weapons, I integrated the gun into the left arm, as is already visible in my precedent post, and also I've reworked the trident to look like a spear, since I felt like it didn't work in a more serious setting. It's now a throwing weapon with an explosive head Inside.

I just wanted to share anon, i wasn't comfortable knowing that only i knew that information. Alright, I have some of these sets and I know them all. Clockwise from top right: Micromanager head from either 70813 or 70807, hard to tell from the pic but probably 70807, I have that one.
Top middle and right are all from the big castle from the 2014 line, 70404. I also have that. bottom middle is from the gatehouse of 2014 castle, 70402. Have that too. Bottom left is the only set that I don't have from the castle 2014 series, its from set no. 70403 Dragon Mountain. That is the base of the catapult.

I was surprised as well. Looks like shit imo. Hate the silhouette of the shuttle thing, not a fan of the space suits, don't like the build of the actual station too much (but this is mostly because of the price). Not a good set imo
nu Arctic also fucking sucks for price to part ratio. At least it looks nicer than the nu mars

I'm a sucker for prefab space tube dwellings, so it jumped out to me, and Ive been out of the Lego loop for the better part of a decade, so I dont really have the parts to build my own. Looking at some reviews, when two of these are put together, it totally looks worth the $60, but not as-is. Even for $50 ive found on some sites is kinda iffy. I guess Im not used to small dense sets and still in the Mars Mission mindset of 2007

I'm still in the 00 mars mission masterbuilder's book headspace as silly as that may sound.
If you want to jump on cheaper price per part sets instead of just bulk buying look at creator. Michael's and Joann's have great prices on some of the sets. Some of which are either at or less than the 10 cent ppp, and thats before you use their instore coupons. They also all offer instore pickup so you don't pay for shipping
