I just finished my first McKean models kit. I didnt use the trucks that came with it. I wasnt fucking around trying to assemble them. I just got some Athearn bettendorf trucks with metal wheels and tapped the bolsters for a 2-56 machine screw to hold them in. Next time I get a McKean kit I will also be cutting off the coupler pocket and screwing in an Athearn coupler pocket because the McKean style has you glue a cover over the pocket. Other than that, its a very nice model and I enjoy it.
Side note, does anyone have a good quality picture of the V&O Appalachian Lines logo? I want to get a hat made with the V&O logo but I cant find a picture of just the logo
