Vallejo, MrHobby Neo and GSC masks are the safest masking liquids I have tried. Never had any problems with them.
The only thing I would be worried about is masking fluid not designed for plastic or long term application. A while ago I used some cheap nail art masking to mask joints. After a few days it dried and hardened to such a degree that I broke a chisel trying to dislodge it from the part.
