o7 guys, technic mobile crane fag here
I've got a little bit of an update on the 8421 I started assembling after christmas. I finished the mobile part of the build, and have to say that I'm blown away. Steering is super smooth with 3 out of 4 axles taking part, outriggers are super sleek and that V6 with diff looks really fun. At this moment this madlad has 46cm in length, but the turning radius is only 64cm for outer wheels and 24cm(!!!) for the inside quadruplet. It's the first time I bought a set of that size, and found the building technique quite interesting - the build starts on a frame (like that found on old cars) to which more assemblies are added, rather than the whole set being constructed sequentially.
The build process takes some time for me, since my autismo kicks in, and I clean thoroughly each piece on the outside, as well as inside of the pin holes, to remove every bit of fine dust that accumulated over the years at the previous owners place.
