They almost broke the company.To go into some lesser known details, there was a time around 2002 where the Duplo brand was removed and replaced by Explore, a catch-all theme for Duplo, Primo and stuff that wasn't even Lego and all it did was alienating its consumers even more since not only was half of the stuff not Lego but run-of-the-mill toddler-toys, it also turned out that people really liked the Duplo logo and its bunny a lot and removing it was like a cardinal sin.
It got so bad that chain stores told Lego's representatives that their company has no fucking clue and that they know way more about Lego than Lego itself.
