And then the dinobots continued that, the suggestion being that metal-color guys is their natural form, but they take on stuff when they get earth modes (also pretty sure 'protoform' optimus was all one color and had more alienish feet than after he scanned the truck?)
buuut it would be nice if they had a little more splashes of color. not too much, just some. The dinobots really felt inspired by Zoids Wild, and those guys had nicely balanced colors.
