Probably what it is. I always thought Mandarin was a complete badass and the perfect counter to Iron Man's tech, never caring that he was some "offensive" stereotype to people that never even read the comics or watched the cartoons.

Being a Mandarin fan in current year is some kind of Chinese torture. We couldn't get a proper version in the MCU to actually interact with Tony (like buy out Stark Industries) and now we won't get him in toy form dispite him being the main villain for the new Retro Iron Man line. Imagine a He-man line without Skeletor or a TF line without Megatron.
