Venom finally arrived and "broke" out of the box while unpacking the figure and just trying out basic joint rotation. It's not as bad as it sounds because I'm pretty sure I basically managed to rip off (unironically not my fault) a piece that was only bolstered by glue to begin with, but still pretty crikey
His rotating shoulder butterfly joint things are apparently operated by big regular balljoints with these odd plug-ish sockets on the surface that the butterfly joints then socket into, and if im not mistaken (from being forced to see the inner workings the connection between the balljoint and the shoulder piece is mainly held together/ strengthened by glue, because just plugging the ripped arm back onto the socket actually does kind of hold it in place
There was basically no way for this not to happen because the second I noticed that the joint wasnt moving like the opposite shoulder, I started to hairdry and try to work the butterfly joint from what terrible angle I could even try to sneak hot air below it, and even just working it like this (relatively gently) made the piece rip off. After that I spent 5 mins just straight up blowdrying the joint and the surrounding plastic and exerting the most force ive ever had to with any toy into getting it to move at all
I just superglued the butterfly joint back into the socket and it seems to be working fine. Really shitty, weird and Im not sure who to blame because this just seems like a combination of bad experimental design for venom, a piece of bad QC on the most crucial part of the figure (or the weakest link maybe) and then just bad luck. Thankfully it seems to be perfectly fixable without leaving outside traces, but I'll still probably message solaris and see if they can do anything for me involving this. I don't really want to return him though
