Lego's TIE costs $50. The MOC, at the same price-to-part ratio, would cost $77, while yielding a similarly sized model.
Also, the outer solar arrays (or whatever they are) look really neat being built in literally 6 different directions, but I'm fairly certain they are harder to build and less stable.
