>>9772552Even with all the stupid shit IDW rushed at the end of the Hasbroverse (ie: The Visionaries doing nothing important other than killing Kup, Onyx Prime being Shockwave all along, literally anything involving Anode & Lug, and basically everything involving Unicron lore-wise) I can still think of some cool things that IDW 2005 had like Starscream being in charge of Cybertron and telling Autobots and Decepticons alike to fuck off. And even with all the stupid dumb bullshit 2005 IDW had, 2019 IDW makes 2005 IDW look like Citizen Kane in comparison.
If you wanna dive deeper into the lore and start off your new reboot with why the Cybertronian Civil War broke out then by all means give it a try, but don't spend 4 years making a comic where nothing interesting happens. The glacial pace that the comic moved at meant that nothing big happened in the story for like the span of 6-8 issues, with most issues just being robots talking politics and philosophy with one another. I mean fuck, Megatron doesn't adopt the name "Decepticons" until more than 20 issues into the series. Of all of the shit I read from the reboot I think the only plot I actually liked was the one with Cliffjumper where he's got a complex because everyone mistakes him for Bumblebee, and that wasn't even in the main comic.
The biggest fuckup that IDW2019 had was its strict adherence to toy accuracy. Like sure, the 2005 series was guilty of this too (like putting Starscream in his Armada body because the Generations toy was coming out), but you can tell that they just traced the toy models for a bunch of these. 2005 IDW may have shit the bed in terms of writing by the end of it, but at least the art was decent enough to look at. Meanwhile 2019 IDW fucks up in both story and art. Y'know, the two most important things when it comes to a comic book.
