This is one Hound as a Jeep with one of those directed energy weapons the military’s been field testing for the last decade or so. Not sure if this more resembles the variety designed to shoot down drones and missiles, or the less-than-lethal crowd control ones, which make you feel like your skin is burning.
(I vaguely recall, with the latter, there were some occasional issues with serious permanent injuries, which prevented them from seeing widespread use as an alternative to tear-gas and rubber-bullets. So mostly you just see them occasional get used abroad or domestically against really big protests.) (Honestly most types of less-than-lethal weapons end up having those issues, and/or just being kind of ineffective.)
