Hero Factory was conceptualised by Faber as a springboard into a much larger universe with multiple factions, questioning the ethics and morality of the heroes and the Factory itself, etc. with a story bible larger than the one they had for Bionicle but the whole thing got more or less sabotaged and dumbed down by Lego's higher ups and we ended up with the bland dime-a-dozen good vs evil crap - same with Bionicle G2.
