>>10715166Correct. The version with the visible matrix through the window which
>>10715126 mentioned was for the 2006 reissue, which had a handful of other changes as well. Similar stickers were also used on Optimus Prime's chest for the "Chaos at Velocitron" version of his voyager Titans Return figure.
That said, the "chest squares," as
>>10715079 called them, were clearly meant to be reminiscent of the original Optimus Prime's windshield, along with his abs clearly representing a truck's grill. Now, these bits were admittedly fake kibble, especially since they didn't even slightly resemble the real windshield and grill on the truck mode, so they were purely aesthetic. But as fake kibble, it's reasonable to interpret them as a windshield and grill, rather than "chest squares" and, I guess we could call it, a stomach vent, much in the same way one would reasonably interpret similar features on G1 Powermaster Prime's smaller robot and G2 Hero Prime as windows and a grill.
Therefore, making Legacy Laser Prime and Scourge's chest be windows isn't necessarily an actual "mistake," as much as one reasonable interpretation. But at the same time, I will agree that the figures would be more visually faithful representations of their original versions if the plastic on the windows wasn't clear, or at the very least had either paint on the windows or colored features behind the windows to represent the patterns on Laser Prime and Scourge's original chest windows.
