Based on what I could look up, the main USB thing has a program you can use to basically do backup/restore, and edit chips. So yeah, spoofing seems easy enough if you get your hands on DiM files that aren't tied to any VB yet; resetting without a clean file probably requires some comparing to figure out what you need to change and to what in any DiM to remove the VB's ID from it.
