What I'm finding is that a lot of these old sets have questionable designs. Minifigs are often hard to get out of their seat without leaving their legs stuck down. Or otherwise they come up wih a 2x1 plate stuck to their ass.
Other sets have weird missing pieces (an obvious slot for a 2x2 plate under the rear axle piece on 6027 for example), or a spot-the-difference mess to put together (pic related).
This old stuff has it's charms, and is certainly easier to repurpose for kids making their own stuff, but as stand alone sets it feels like old bad, new good at least as far as building experience and play features go.
