The fucking Xfactor series was one of the poorest selling X-titles in the 90s. It basically only sold as much as it did because of "investors" who thought comics they'd never read would go up in value.
The people who actually READ the comic? LOVED the series, LOVED the characters, but they probably number in the tens of thousands.
To give oyu an idea of how few fans there actually are, the author who wrote the "famous" XFactor 90s series with Strong Guy in it, he was able to go back to writing it in the 00s. His book got maybe 30,000 sales per issue. The vast majority of the time, he was straddling the cancelation line for dozens and dozens of issues, which is ~26,000 sales a month.
The people who wanted to get toys of this unpopular series? They're barely a blimp compared to the fans of actual popular character like Nightcrawler or Dazzler.
