When hindsight shifts to foresight. Mind of mashines #nexttomachines #14b2020G1: Classical antiquity, idealized as the origin of the mythological tradition as well as the beginnings of western science and philosophy. The foundation of much that came later.
G2: The medieval period, dark ages, stagnation, blind faith, population decline, counterurbanisation, famine, bubonic plague, etc. Not without its bright spots, but regarded by many as a period of deterioration.
G3: Modernity, the Rennaissance, adaptation of the scientific method, reason and faith in progress displacing spirituality's central place in society, rapid advancement and acceleration in all areas of society and technology. Computing promises the eventual creation of artificial intelligence.
It seems like Generation 3 is going to be much more "sci-fi" than the first two generations, which is probably for the best if the Bionicle story is to regain the versatility it had in G1. If we have a third generation starting on a mysterious island populated by futuristic-but-tribal robots, we'll never get off the fucking island again.
