The base was MDF (which was a mistake, should've used plywood or something), the rest was plaster, the paint was acrylic craft paint from a dollar store.

It's a pretty sloppy rock job if I say so myself, but maybe it's just lighting.
Go to youtube and search rock diorama, I'm sure there will be lots of guides for you to watch. Also look for pictures of asteroids and such if this rock is supposed to be in space. Weathering in space works differently.
