>>7030644Spyrius are one of many factions vying for power in an isolated cluster of star systems, a region once part of a long-extinct pair of empires that wiped each other out. They left behind technology, wrecked war machines, resource-rich worlds and treasure, attracting much attention when the cluster was re-discovered.
Spyrius have militarized themselves significantly in this area, behavior typical of all the factions battling each other for the spoils. Aside from the occasional raiding party, they'd previously been content with espionage and thieving operations, but the general lawlessness of the cluster compelled them to become bolder, more aggressive, even ruthless. They're resolutely anti-SP and their Ice Planet allies; occasionally they'll cooperate with Blacktron to engage particularly tough opponents, but these are opportunistic one-time alliances. They are numerically one of the largest factions in the cluster, with the ability to replenish fallen troops fairly quickly with new clones. They prefer to raid and capture stocks of plunder gathered by rival factions, rather than engaging in recovery operations of their own. Their craft are all geared towards such operations: pic related can fast-deploy a pair of two-man ATVs, providing close air support while these roll in and secure anything of value. The larger ship then flies in and deploys more troops to collect the plunder, while the saucer squadron hovers out of sight, ready to ambush enemy reinforcements. Rumor has it that they are envious of the modular starships of SP and Ice Planet and are gathering materials to blatantly rip off their designs; only time will tell.
