Not only that, but how do you think get they would get through litigation with counterfeiters without those old master molds? There were maybe a handful of highly specialized molds like helmets and helmet pieces or bizarre figures like the rock monster. The grandstanding of the majority of the sets through the 90s and even most of the 2000s dont have these kinds of things.
Even then, Lego's factories dont have the same restrictions they once did. That should be evident enough with releases like Hidden Side and all the Star Wars/Licensed stuff.
