I see the point to him wanting better details on these figures, especially with the recent price increase, but I also do feel he doesn't like a figure that much if he's not familiar with the character. I bet the most Marvel knowledge he has is the 90s cartoons, mcu, and maybe a few quick wikipedia articles and google image searches.
