If kids didn't enjoy the first 2 bay movies, they wouldn't have bought the toys. If kids didn't like beast wars, they wouldn't have bought the toys. How do you expect to keep a franchise going by just revisiting the same characters and same designs over and over and over again. At least in 3rd party, it makes some sense because that market in particular is very small and only people that are already into transformers will usually buy that stuff however, its a problem for the core franchise if you can't drive the brand. Marvel comes up with new media, Star Wars comes up with new media, Gundam comes up with new media and all of these are at the very least successful. Transformers hasn't been attached to any real success since Prime (and I'm being generous).
