I don't know why but there was just something that was so damn appealing to me about the Gnerations Thrilling 30 line. Maybe it's the free comic book, maybe it's the way the boxes look cooler than the ones they used in Combiner Wars and future lines, maybe a little of both. I don't know, but there's just something I really liked about it. Now that I think about it, I must have bought most of the toys here minus the LCs

That's literally one of the only reasons I buy characters (the other being that they have cool looking alt modes). I didn't grow up on G1 even though I was around for the 'G2' rerun of the series, so I have no real nostalgia for the characters. 90% of my collection is made of bots I had literally never seen or heard of before - I only went and researched them after the fact. The way I see it, if the character doesn't have an interesting looking alt mode and doesn't have a fun transformation, then they aren't worth owning; it should come as no surprise that the bulk of my collection consists of Decepticons and Predacons.
AS for other stuff I collect - I've got about a million Beast Boxes at this point. Again, fun transformations and cool looking animal forms take priority over everything else for me (though it seems the characters actually do have bios and backstories there, too). I also have some Gunpla and a few Macross model kits - all of which transform.

One part of me wishes I got back into TF early enough to have gotten TR Misfire, but the other part of me just really doesn't vibe with that head. Like, it's G1 toon+anime accurate, but that's *so* inferior to the og toy/toy art (and by proxy IDW) head design, it's not even fair. He just ends up looking like another generic Decepti-grunt Blitzwing/Insecticons/etc head.
Eh, well if anything the recent Wreckers amazon capsule proves hasbro's not above reissuing TR molds today, so, here's to praying that they'll reissue Misfire with a nicer head sometime soon. At least, I hope so..

Not horribly - I got mine off eBay for around $15 NIB about a year ago, and Nightscream was for about $2 loose at a garage sale. Sling, on the other hand, was pricey for what he is, but he was a limited giveaway thing and I just really, really like the mini dragon mold.

Eh if they end up selling the Microns separately, I'd prefer that personally. The Legacy Armada Starscream and Hot Shot molds fucking suck (Megatron has issues but at least they're all fixable), and I'd hate to have had to buy them just to get a really good modern Micron figure.
...releasing Jolt with a repainted exclusive Legacy Hot Shot also doesnt make me happy, but I'm holding out hope he'll be rereleased too...

i used to think about this a lot
what beastformers helped me conclude is that the seat consciousness just moves to the new head. if it's a car or something, it probably moves to the engine or some other part in front. jets have sensors in their nosecones and shit I think...
but the act of your body changing, that's gotta be odd. I bet sometimes it feels like a gooood stretch after a stiff sit.

when they're in robot mode they don't even "see" like we think of it.
remember, they have glowing visors or "eyes" or just a dot, or no eyes at all.
Which means that they're probably just having a myriad of sensors in the sockets their eyes would be in.

So in alt mode, either there's more sensors, or the sensors move.
It's probably different for every alt mode
Megatron's eyes are probably in his scope
Optimus is probably in his cab, behind the windows
Mirage has no windshields or headlights so his have to just be stuck somewhere. This is another reason to doubt that they "see" like we do

now, Inferno coming back after being visibly vaporized? yeahhh. but I think that was a mistake. and like I said, a few brief moments of stretchy weird shit. but the way they pull out their weapons always looks natural, and you hear a click of it coming loose from its storage place.

All of Megatron's issues can be fixed; the locked turret can be made to spib 360 just by unscrewing the toy and removing a gate piece, and the shoulders can be replaced with more articulated ones online if they bother you. But yes, unless you really love him then waiting for a discount shouldn't be the end of the world.

Hot Shot sucks man. He's arguably the best Hot Shot available, but that doesnt make him good: his transformation was changed for the sake of being different, and it only makes his arms and legs look leagues worse for it. It's not something that could be fixed by a kit or w/e. That wouls be bad enough, but then the mold completely removed his rear bumper to allow extra clearance for his axlezooka, which means in bot mode he's got a giant hollow gap where the back of his formerly-huge shoulders used to be. I hate him.

Starscream is meh. Suffered from very poor QC and plastic quality, also very lacking in paint, notably on the legs. His worst offense is not having any room for a future potential Micron to be attached on his back, and his two swords are both pitifully tiny and pathetic. His wing can be removed to mimic the wing sword gimmick, but the actual "wing sword" is a separate piece, which's a bit lame. Sadly, Armada Starscream has been nigh-completely ignored, despite him rly needing upgrade kits for better weapons at least, too. Oh, also he has no wrist articulation despite being a swordsman (cringe).

Optimus is great.

Nemesis Primal and Blackarachnia are great, even if Nemesis Primals shoulders don't hold together too well.The major complaint I have is Fangry, his knees are too loose he just cannot stand up in Robot mode at all so he's stuck in alt mode. Bumblebee is just a reuse of the overused Cliffjumper mold

From what I can see its not as easy as most polish fixes, because the pin is covering up the actual area you'd need to apply the fix and is very hard to get out

Mildly annoying transformation on the new jeep. A lot of people seemed to be pretty down on the last jp guy but i actually really love him, his transformation was so simple yet perfectly hit all the beats of a good car former and looks great in both modes.

Our new friend tries to get a little fancy with the transformation with some swiveling chest wheels and shoulder pads and a really cool looking design on the legs imo but the massive backpack really gets in the way. Its on a very stiff hinge and made of clear plastic so i ended up consulting the instructions thinking "well surely not, this will just snap". But no it just requires a scary amount of force to push upward, at least the first time. And before its got the clearance to move it makes folding out the legs and flipping down the torso a real pain.

Once you finally do get him transformed though he looks pretty great, i appreciate having a dude whos clearly a sniveling coward fat guy rather than a heroic warrior. The shoulder look like they free flow but they actually tab in securely under the shoulder pads. Most of the joints here besides the backpack have a solid even friction except his knees. Theyre fine till about 45° and then they get loose, which sucks for a pinned joint. This combined with the fact that his feet are centered on the back and swing forward and his big packpack means if you bend the knees past that friction threshold he just wants to flop backward

Yeah it certainly adds to his character, it really comes across immediately who this guy is in a good way, its just comes at the impediment of his transformation, it wasnt hard at all, its just mildly annoying moving things around his back, and then in the end it doesnt even secure down smoothly, theres a substantial gap between his torso and back. Its a handful of minor issues that bring down an otherwise quite fun figure

Posing is pretty solid, no loose joints, mostly decent range. The thigh swivel is hindered going outward as the sculpt clashes with the tail/waist bit unless you swing the legs out farther on the hip. The way the shin armour bit slides from upper thigh to lower shin between modes and gives him boots os really nice.

Not nice is how easily these damn frills pop off, get ready to see a bunch of these on ebay missing the frills and spray effect in a few years. Speaking of the spray effect, while it secures perfectly in the mouth, its basically just resting on the gun here, the hole is too big, it doesnt really secure at all

I forgot to mention another issue i have is that the shoulder flaps his arms are attached to are a little awkward to play around with, i really wish they tabbed into the back somehow cuz as is whenever you want to adjust the arms you pull the whole thing, a mild inconvenience but still worth noting.

Look at this head sculpt though, real stunner. Hes got the primal style mask lips which i think rules, sculpted little lizard nostrils between the eyes, and i love the detailed layering that goes into his chin strap.

Oh right, his heels are a little bit annoyingly small, the weight of the figure is well balanced and the foot has good range of tilt but the tiny heels do hold him back a tad

Either way Armada Red Alert has to be a Voyager not a Deluxe. Screw the cartoon scaling that is consistent in everyone at the same height with some exceptions, just follow the old toyline's class scaling and the Armada updates should be fine. And yeah that's about right though I still hold out for a brand new mold for Red Alert.

I really wouldn't recommend this figure. He's probably the worst titan. Creaky, hollow, stickered up, lack of ankle tilts really hurts him, drab colors that are not evocative of him in any continuity or toyline, and his alt modes are bad even by titan standards. but... anon, the legs become the legs. they barely even change. How are you gonna remold it so it has tiny lil lizard/croc legs?
though I guess for a lizard form, it would be fine to just give the thighs deep indentations so he could go into a deep squat, lizards (including frilled lizards) often have decently long legs that are just kept folded up and sprawled...
but a gator, no way. plus the gator needs his cool skin texture. at most, he would be a 'shares engineering' guy

Spotted a buzzworthy reissue grimlock and decided to pick him up since I missed out on the original release, unfortunate QC issue with a misfired pin in the horn that ended with me ripping it off, but ironically that helped since I can now just slot it into place
That aside, man he is just fucking cool. And BIG. You can definitely feel his age with the limited posability but you could honestly put him in a basic museum pose and he'd still look badass, while also towering over most other figures.
I worry about the soft plastic and wish he came with a big handheld mace but fuck, he's just so cool! Why have we not gotten the rest of the aoe dinobots yet?

More like Spielberg made them that way to make them more visually interesting and to get the whole 'spitting cobra' thing across to the viewers. The book Dilos had no frills at all (and were much, MUCH bigger than what we see in the movie. They also had leopard spots).

Nah, even by the standards of the Titans released right before and after, he's not good, and I say this as someone who has the Takara versions of all three. He completely lacks the base mode of the original, and its replacement is terrible. Even the fanmodes attempting to replicate the original aren't that great. His alt-modes are lacking compared to Metroplex, and he has less play features than Trypticon. Where Metroplex and Trypticon got in features or accessories to make up for the lack of their buddies like Sixgun and Brunt, Max got nothing of the sort. And being an retool of Metroplex doesn't help him in the looks department, especially with that obvious giant hinge on his chest that accomplishes nothing.

God Neptune, Sixtrain and Centuritron are all male combiners with a female team member, doesn't seem to have any connection and it really doesn't matter.

now yeah the logical way to repair it would be to glue them back on, then use a pin vise to drill through both, and place a metal pin the same width as said vise inside, then give it extra glue just to be safe.. i THINK at that point the mushroom heads would at least no longer shear off from sidemotion. now as for downward pull... that's a lot trickier. if you had a tiny tack or nail with a decently wide head on it, and you used THAT as your pin...

I think these two joints failed in the same way for the same reason, the area around the mushroom parts dried out and got creaky, so when I went to turn them they just cracked like they weren't even there because the space around them wouldn't let 'em turn. I'm not into the 3P scene and got this guy as a random one-off, but I'd be curious if other Gauntlet owners had the same issue.

also that does make sense, mushroom pegs rely on minimal friction or else you will just shear them right off, i've seen it so many times.

Same. The enginnering anf parts count seem good, but then the shoulders are so bad that they ruin the whole. I was willing to wait for a Delta magnus repaint, but I can't justify it.

Seriously, the extra articulation on that section wasn't worth the extra wide gap between the torso and shoulder, and the removable arm gimmick wasn't worth gutting the outward shoulder motion (its entirely friction based on a hinge and the toy can't support the arms), not to mention the hinge is so high up that using that hinge will look weird in many poses (if you've seen potp Optimus, you'll know what I'm talking about).

It's actually kinda sad how graceless the entire chest/torso section of the transformation is and how shitty it ends up looking, especially when the MP and CW figures handled it fine without even trying. Those giant red tabs trying to hold the accordion panels together look so cheap and shitty. I get the feeling this is all in service of the stupid spring-loaded chest doors gimmick, which is also why there's exposed springs and random white plastic hinges poking through the front.

The hunt also include flea markets and hobby/comic stores, I've found really good shit for a few bucks, from a 2 USD lose classics jetfire and a 30 USD Siege Jetfire in box to a 50 USD Platinium 5 Dinobot sealed boxset.
