The beetles and butterflies are both pretty much in scale with the spiders and scorpions; that is to say, you can fit one on a minifig hand. There's also a butterfly hair accessory that works awesomely for depictions of dimorphic species mating because both the butterfly and beetle have pinholes on their backs.
I really like the butterfly piece. It sits pretty low as you can see.
