It makes sense that they'd include side builds and main builds that appeal to different demographics in the same set in order to have one box appeal to multiple demographics.
And Lego clearly realised how popular the side builds were since they released a set which is comprised entirely of small buildings and frame to put them on and the buildings and the frame are compatible with the side builds from the other sets.
