We are entering the twilight of this civilization, nothing new matters and nothing fresh can take root because everything is stagnant.
Collecting the toys and coming up with some cool head canon is the only outlet that a majority of people can manage to devote to this specific hobby these days, and the people who do come up with something new and fresh get shot down by a vocal but infinitely malignant and powerful minority group, this is compounded further by the mouth breathing morons who refuse to stand up for them and then go on to complain that nothing new comes out.
It's futile until something changes, but by the time that happens, we'll probably have other problems to worry about than collecting toys.
