Seems to be able to hold it over his shoulder or with two hands just fine, though. And for anything else? Well, stands exist. I'd argue it's a crying shame they didn't provide one for Guts like they did for Yamato, 2b and 9s.

The head seems better, torso seems to have more range (even ignoring that the newer version doesn't have all the straps and pouches), the elbows are better by virtue of being full armor and having a less distracting cap, and I think they did something slightly different with the shoulder armor. I was just trying to point at the good articulation points the first Guts had because most people just indiscriminately spew bile over it, treating it like it has 0 merits, when it did have some nice engineering. Just also some jank that dragged it down.
Also, I posted a picture of it before, but here's the butterfly range that most people don't seem to ever see because they don't push it.
