Its like RGB, EGB, and the comics dont even exist to these people when all that stuff is what made more money in the end. It wouldnt surprise me if the corporate overlords in control of the series probably havent even seen the movies and just stick to merchandising the same safe shit because it sells well around halloween time.
Ghostbusters is the kind of series that demands reinvention with every new incarnation. Thing is there hasnt been any reinvention for decades now. Its been the same shit with slight tweaks.
