Doing some hubcaps with a silver sharpie is fine, but not only are the metallic sharpies done with a different ink from the regular ones, they also still smudge if you're not careful. So it's best done only with metallics, and only on places you'll never touch or will have no friction. ie: Hubcaps (and I guess in Astro's case, his train wheels).
