>>9034345>What was her favorite monster?Oh that's easy, King Ghidorah. Mosly because you were guaranteed a good time with any movie he shows up in. Her favorite Godzilla film is Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster. Although Gamera is actually a close second, she loves the superhero turtle.
> Moreover do you think Gamera or Ultraman will ever make it big in the states?Interesting you mention that, because I do have a bit of a story. Back in school I convinced my history professor to let me do a project on the original Godzilla movie, even convinced him to watch it with the class. I brought in a book one day by Steve Ryfle, he was looking through it and pointed out to me a page with Ultraman on it and told me he recognized that character from a show he watched when he was a kid. You'd be surprised how far and deep the reach of kaiju can go, many gen X'ers were introduced to kaiju through television. I feel like the main reason Godzilla is remembered over Gamera or Ultraman had nothing to do with luck, but with Toho's incredibly shrewd decision in the 60's to partner with American production companies and have American actors in their movies. They made a really huge push to get Godzilla appealing to the west very early on. Gamera tried to copy that, but was very obviously the cheap alternative.
