>>8775210>How many kids did you actually know?I went to a private school, so my view is pretty biased and small. But i knew almost every kid in the grades above me and below since small schools create an a close community. So a couple hundred, plus my cousins in my extended family that i was close to, numbering in the 30s-40s.
>The parent paranoia of the 80s and 90s is well documentedJust like the 10s and 20s, it's nothing but a loud minority.
If those shitastic christian groups actually had any sort of majority, the Simpsons wouldn't ahve been as popular as it was and rated R movies. Rap wouldn't have become so huge that it toppled country music as the US's most popular music genre. Toylines like Batman wouldn't be the most popular brand. D&D wouldn't have some of the most popular books in book stores in the 90s. Even comics got their second wind in the 90s and then again in the early 00s.
I wish i could say "Same Shit; Different Day," but here's the new normal:
Unlike the 10s and 20s, the loud minority in the 80s and 90s didn't have access to a popular platform where anyone can see their shitty totalitarian opinions every hour on any given day. Unfortunately, the popular platform's exposure makes media companies treat this loud minority as if were mainstream bad press.
As with anything, vote with your wallet. This is why Robocop (DESPITE being an R-rated series and Krazy Khristians trying to raise up shitstorms over shit they disagreed with) got a bunch of toys, a pg-13 sequel, cartoon, and TV series. This is why even Mortal Kombat got its own cartoon series and toylines.
