It's fun to think of Bionicle in terms of the glory days when it was the "theme that saved Lego" and a massive sensation, but it didn't really have the staying power. For most people now, Bionicle is a cool toyline they remember from when they were kids the same way someone might remember Huntik or Dragon Booster. They remember little more than playing with it ages ago. For the vast majority of people, it doesn't hit those nostalgic heartstrings the same way Pokemon might, and unlike Pokemon or Transformers, Bionicle hasn't had a continuous presence in the public eye since its inception. Hell, by 2007 it was becoming a niche toyline, and the reboot practically went unnoticed due to mishandled marketing.
This isn't some wokeshit conspiracy corrupting Lego. Lego just doesn't believe that Bionicle can pull sets off the shelvesn and they could be right, especially in terms of $100+ novelty sets like those posted on Ideas.
>but SeinfeldSeinfeld was literally one of the largest shows in America pulling something like 70 million viewers for its finale and it had run for years. People know what Seinfeld is and still buy merch. A Lego set is a great novelty for some bored 40-year-old.
>but the Maori lawsuit!G2 used the classic names just fine in 2016. It's not popular enough to warrant a shitstorm.
Face it. Lego just doesn't care.
