If you do an image search for "MOW crane" you'll see a number of styles, including types like in your pic which definitely skews towards an older style. More modern ones will look different. For some lines in the proper period, that would be correct. But there may be liveries of it that did not exist, it being much cheaper to just re-use the same model for equipment generally in lower demand. Like anything else, if you are very particular about matching a prototype then you must first research your prototype and time period to figure it out. The prototype may use different equipment, sometimes even bodge jobs they made themselves. Or similar equipment to that, even basically the same, but with modifications. But if you're just looking for close enough that you can get away with it, few people would notice it out of place if you had a CP pac-man era layout and dropped that MOW tender into it even if it never really existed (pic related does show something similar).
