>>9985505>softer plastic things with grungy paintjobs to make them look better. No one on /toy/ knows which plastics are more expensive than others, but without a doubt, companies who need pass safety rules are paying much more to have them tested and are specially formulated.
And as for painting, whether you like it or not, it's pretty expensive. Weathering is more expensive than a tampograph or masking, despite unique tools being created for it, because it covers more space. And of course, tampographs and masking are costly too.
Straight black costs nothing but the plastic and mold.
>the core gun is still much simpler.Sure, but 20x more expensive? Hardly. You can buy model kits that are more complex than LA and bigger for under $10. Again, the reason LA shit is as pricey as it is is solely because they're very niche.
You're completely ignorant of how complex toys actually are. They're little different from model kits. The biggest difference (aside from labor) is just the fact that the two sides of a body are kept as two pieces and need supports. Everyhting else, including the runners, is basically identical.
The fact is that the labor intensive toys are only as cheap as they are is because of how many are sold. Model kits can be just as cheap, and frequently are, if they'er sold in greater volume.
So if there were more demand, LA kits would maybe cost $10, just like other kits that are roughly made of the same amount of pieces and size.
